I have a aproval rating of +85% and in the happines screen the bar of  R C and I is in the happiest happy face region in all  wealth/tech levels.

Still there are a lot of protesters in front of the city hall and the manson. The one in front of the city hall are protesting without any reason given and the one infront of the manson protesting about high rent.

I have 2 questions.

1. What can I do about high rent? Is it the same problem as high taxes,  has it to do with the going out of money problem, or is it something else?

2. What conditions does my city to fullfill, so that there are no more protesting people?

I hope you can help me, because my mayor is getting sick of all the people shouting at him, when he is geving a BBQ.

1. Remove parks. I am not 100% sure, but mostly they are protesting because of high land values; thus, high rents. Removing the parks should devalue the estates in general, providing more affordable housings.

2. No idea. Ever since the actual launch of the game, I've never been able to get rid of protestors. Time to time, they don't even have their topics to shout in front of my mansions. They are just there.

The protesters are stupid. I really don't know how else to say it. I wish the zombies would just get them all.

As far as #1:

I'm sure it's supposed to indicate something or other -- I don't know what. That said, land value (i.e. parks) has no effect on rent.

I'm just speculating, but I guess that high rent means the land value is more than the wealth level of the Sims that occupy it?  Only low-income jobs available and not enough low income housing, for example.

The only reason I can guess for people still protesting even when you've got a high approval rating is...

"Haters gon' hate."

I've got a similar issue with protesters protesting the city has too many germs. How does my city have too many germs? I've got two clinics, a hospital with 3 wellness centres, clinics with fully maxed out treatment capacity and ambulances, I have a well educated city and yet, my city apparently has too many germs. Everyone else seems happy except the protesters which leads me to believe the protesters are actually bugged and need to be fixed.

Hey dude! We want a party, you don't mind us throwing garbage do you?. Ok, have fun. Quest done. After a month I checked the protesters: "they complain garbage wasn't being collected

A month later, they still were there protesting the garbage wasn't being collected.

They just protest for sake of protest.

I pointed to another thread that somehow, no matter how good your garbage collection is, it will always leave behind 32 units. Even if on the chart map everything is collected.

I manage to get rid of the protesters about the germs when I plugged a recycling centre. Which still leaves 32 units uncollected. But there is nothing left in the city.

So they stopped complaining (at last after 100 hours trying).

But they popped again, before I upgrade the sewage collection.

Please note, that the direction of the wind has to be on the opposite side of your garbage, recycling & sewage.

If the air blows towards the city, nothing can save you from the protesters.

As for the rent. If you have low wealth industry next to high land value residential, you do have the problem

Because the agents go to the closest workplace/house. So when from high land value area, go to a mine and back to a high land value area, they will run out of money and complain about the rent.

You need to raise your land value inwards in zones.

Low wealth closer to industrial, med income then and rich in the centre of your city.

Who said this game is simplified and dumbed?

(can't say dumbed down because that's double negative and cringe when hearing it).

I haven’t noticed that in my testing. AFAIK, all jobs pay the same.

Also, dumbed down certainly ain’t no double negative :) Not to mention that there are plenty of “good” double negatives in English so there's really no need to cringe.  In general, natural languages don’t always operate according to the rules of formal logic.

I wish this game had small elements of black & white 2. In particular the hand of god. I'd love to gather all the protesters up and toss them in the banish lands.

They really don't serve any purpose, complain to complain.. They obviously don't work.

Shame the protesters do not turn to a disaster (riot), throwing petrol bombs and looting. While on the other side the police "doing their job".

That was going to have purpose and be fun :)

This comment should be taken seriously, I would love to have this element of conflict within my own city walls. Have special Riot Police, call them DHSS (department of Homeland Sim Security) The longer you allow the riots to continue the further they develop their weapons, ending in IEDs and city wide civil war lol.  This could be a VERY interesting twist, currently the protesters are nothing more than a nuisance .
