...the two lane road from Maxis? Does it hold more traffic? Are are the four lanes on the single tile avenue from NAM just for looks?

Have you tried it?  I did the other day.  I had a couple of spots where traffic was backing up a little and I placed the 4 lane no median single wide avenue all through that strip replacing the two lane road, and saw a major difference.  Instant traffic begone.

The NRD-4 actually has a lower capacity than the standard avenues, because it's based upon the road network. SimCity 4 calculates capacity per tile. The properties of this tile depend on network type (note: this does NOT include starter overrides, just the base networks) and wheter it's an intersection or not. By making "fake"intersections with pathing, we mangae to increase capacity for some of the wider networks with 25%, but we can't do any more than that. Because the AVE-4 is a two-tile network and the NRD-4 is a single tile network, the AVE-4 will always have more capacity...

Best,

Maarten

hi.

After updating NAM to latest ver 31.2, I found difficulties using NRD-4 (previously named as NMAVE-4).

I can't create an intersection (either + or T intersection) between NRD-4 with NRD-4 or road without causing a glitch.

I mean suddenly 2 tiles of NRD-4 near the intersection change into standard road TULEP.

It didn’t happen in previous NAM version which I could make a smooth intersection between NMAVE-4 to NMAVE-4 or NMAVE-4 to standard Road.

Anyone can help or give any suggestion about this matter? Do I have to use special TULEP or intersection? Because I’ve trying to looking for NRD-4 TULEP but couldn’t find it.

thanks

It makes sense from a real life standpoint. If a road is wider and the lanes are wider, then this will enable higher speeds and hence, higher capacity.

Those "TuLEPs", from the sound of it, aren't actually TuLEPs but Road Turning Lanes.  And if they're still automatically showing up, it means you have a pre-NAM 31 copy of the Road Turning Lanes Plugin somewhere hiding in your Plugins.  That should have been deleted automatically.  Do a search for "NetworkAddonMod_TurningLanes_Road.dat" in your Plugins folder.  Pull out that file if you find it.

NAM 31.x redesigned the old Road Turning Lanes, changing them from an automatic setup (with a ton of overrides to make the NWM play nice with the automatic setup), to a semi-automatic setup, whereby the turn lanes should only appear when a single tile of One-Way Road is laid over the intersection (and the ton of overrides became unnecessary and was removed).

Yap, I remember after installing latest NAM, my previous road tuleps were missing and no road turning lanes appear if I create road x road intersection.

That's why I used turning lanes component from previous NAM.

After search for other articles, I found out that it's true in the latest NAM, "the Road Turning Lanes are no longer automatically generated when a Road x Road intersection is built".

I do have to use OWR and click in the intersection.

Problem solved, thanks for your support :)
