Not bad, but not great...

]After years of playing SimCity in one form or another, it's time I dipped my head into the water and see what Simtropolis was all about :)

So, I just bought my copy of SimCity 5 yesterday, and even though I've been reading some pretty dire reviews about the game, I thought it would be worth trying it out. First imressions? I actually enjoyed the game, once I found a server that was working and was working on a couple of cities in a decent region. Thing is, I thought I would try a different server, and now I can't seem to locate my previously built cities. I have searched pretty much all the servers, but they have vanished. I would happily start a new game, but all the regions that are found in the searches seem to be full (so if anybody would like a keen city builder in there new region, add me on webbster2k)

Diving into the game itself, and apart from the obvious lack of city size (I mean, they spend all that time creating some lovely regions and yet you can only build in such a small confined area), it was enjoyable, if not a bit too easy. It wasn't too long before I was seeing some pretty nice high-rise apartments, such as the screen shot below.

The thing is, this game I reckon had so much potential. I've played SimCity 2000 and 3000, SimCity 4 (best SimCity game in my eyes), I even downloaded CitiesXL 2011, which was actually a decent game but had no character. SimCity 5 could've been a great, it could still be, but due to a number of issues that myself and everyone else has found and mentioned already, I feel a touch bit disappointed...

I believe that there are still rollback problems--meaning your cities probably were deleted.

I used to agree with you about the game's potential until it became obvious that it wouldn't be moddable in the same way SC4 is; and that Maxis is going to make you pay out your butt for DLC.

Nice city by the way.  (The game looks kind of weird with the settings turned so low though.)

Thanks, my computer isn't the greatest, I was initially warned that the game might not even work on my computer due to the graphics card not being too great lol.
