Is there a different texture for the GLR?  I would love to have the red brick texture.  I would even settle for the sandstone really.  I Googled it and came up with nothin'.  Anyone ever heard of or seen a different texture for the GLR?

It's the GLR equivalent of SAM; It's been around since NAM 30. (GLR Extension)

OMG!  I almost fell out of my chair! :ohyes:

Does it work with all pieces? or just the dragable and where do i get it, if you don't mind.

What exactly is behind the word "customizable" here? Is there an easy way to change the texture for the draggabvle GLR? Say, if I want to change the color of grass under GLR, is that possible?

@ Metal: if you want the complete sandstone set, you can get it here:http://hide-inoki.com/bbs/archives/sc4_0803.html

It's a NAM plugin (in the installer, find the option for Extended GLR), and yes, it's a separate draggable network.

As in, you can change the textures without having to resort to something like what you recommended.

This is what I mean when I say "GLR equivalent of SAM".

I am having a melt down, it feels like I am a kid again on Christmas.  Going too fast, I just downloaded the brick texture set from that site Magneto pointed me too and unpacked it and am about to drop it into my plugins folder, you say they can co-exist right?  That is what you are saying?  I just drop it in there and no problems?  That is what I am getting from the quick video you just did, I am just trying to understand this all still because it is going so fast.  Sorry if I appear to be dense to you.

Well, the thing is, you're being given two different means of accomplishing the same thing: I recommended the "GLR equivalent of the SAM", which is a NAM plugin, while someone else is recommending a textural replacement, which replace the textures of the existing GLR network, and was created WAAY before the creation of the GLR Extension.

What I'm getting at is, if you install the NAM correctly (have the GLR Extension selected from the NAM installer), you'll already have the Sandstone GLR network. There's no need to install anything else.

See, I just did a NAM reinstall to find that and didn't see it, are you talking about NAM30 or 31?  I have 31 is it in 31?  I will do another re-install.

It works for both NAM 30 and NAM 31. Simply look for this:

That is just for the draggable though isn't it?  I want the whole deal, even the avenue, all of it.  Or is my problem in not knowing how to use it effectively?

Edit:  Yeah I am in game and all of the puzzle pieces are still that drab downtown look.  I even use the draggable starter piece and the only other texture I can get is the no texture at all one, then it switches after that to puzzle pieces on the wheel and I for sure have the extended selected in my install.  What am I missing?

Edit:  I am saving a video I got to show you I am missing the things you have, I cycled through all the pieces, when it is finished compressing I will upload it and post the link---it is uploading right now.

Yeah, just draggable. (I was unaware that you also wanted Sandstone Tram-in-Avenue, so you will need to install what Magneto recommended. Nothing wrong should happen if you have both installed, you'll just have an extra copy of the Sandstone GLR.)

Well here is the link, I most definitely have the extended box checked for this install too, I was able to find it on my second install of this night and I still don't have the sandstone draggable, not that I saw anyway, like I said I for sure have the extended checked as well as every other option available.

    The video: http://youtu.be/U7wSim9K7nM

IT worked!(the video worked, not the starter piece)

I am going to install the plugin for the sandstone texture, thanks guys.

Well, now.  The NAM team is always pulling rabbits out of my hat.  I missed that one, so I just went back and added it via reinstall.

I only get two textures?  Are there more?  All I get are ground texture and bricks.

Speaking of different textures: are there any other textures for GLR stations? Because then I make, for instance, GLR with sandstone and put on this GLR station, sandstone turns into standard texture. And when I want to put sandstone on standard texture on GLR station, game crashes. Any solution to this problem?

Nope that is all it is buddy and then at that it is only for the draggable.  I saw no sense in it being only for the draggable so I followed the link translated and signed up for that Chinese site and downloaded the whole kit.  I would also like to note here that it does not cover diagonal puzzle pieces though.  The diagonals are still in that urban concrete texture.  I will put up with that personally, I might just avoid using the diagonals altogether.  That default texture is horribad in my opinion, eyesore even.  My whole game is lush, alive and vibrant then you have that dull and drab texture in the middle of it all, straight up eyesore.  I am very grateful to Magneto for pointing me in the right direction, I would have never used the GLR were it not for him.   I wish the sandstone texture was available here on the STEX and the LEX, it might get some more attention and become more of an option, it might have been included with the NAM had it been more readily available to everyone, possibly more textures too.

I fiddled with the GLR last night extensively.  It is a very good way to lower traffic congestion in an urban area.  I had an avenue that had 7000 cars/bus/pedestrians travelling down it from a very short distance away, I lined that entire section of avenue and the intersecting avenue as well and implemented the turn around loop at the three ends and cleared the congestion up for the whole area just like that.  The best parts are that it worked beautifully and that is was also an addition in that it added a more decorative look to that section of my city though, it is only my test city, but it did show that it has very real applications in any future cities I make and it will almost certainly make an appearance large or small in practically every city I make from here on out.

GLR with Sandstone Texture front and center in the Picture.  I will put up with the GLR station textures, I think I can look past it.

How do you change the textures? The same way I made my Ontario road textures? If you want to see my photos of Ontario textures, click

What are the IIDs of the textures?

I do not know any of the technical aspects of it.  The second post in this thread, the one by Magneto, has the link to the site to add the sandstone brick textures, before you go  though, have your Google Translate ready, it's in Simplified Han(Chinese).

if you like an all over look try in addition to the other suggestions.  I'm pretty sure that's the one responsible for turning most of my stations to sandstone or brick, of course along with the sidewalks.  it's quite customisable once you figure it out.  So far the only standout seems to be the tulep slip lanes.  if that doesn't give you the desired effect there are other sandstone, brick and sidewalk mods that might (or a combination if they are compatible) and you'll just have to try different things to get the effect you are searching for (or at least as close to it as you can with what is available)
