How to connect small international airport to road

Hello

When I want to build a road to connect to the airport's road, my road simply ends, it does not connect to the airport lot. How should I tackle this? Also, where should I build my bus/railway/elevated rail to connect to the airport. I am using the standard airport.

it sucks that some plops don't have road access. I like the ones that have connections already made, in which those you can see traffic go in and out. It's kinda retarded that no houses whatsoever have road connections. Looks like they have to drive over top the sidewalk to get onto their driveways from the roadway

Although I have a custom built airport and it has connections from rail & roadways...not sure about the default game ones though since I no longer have those. :P

You can use the SC4Tool to transit enable your airport.  Bit of a learning curve there, but persevere and it will do it.

But i am using the standard airport. Shouldn't there be a connection available by default?

The default airport only needs 'road access'.  You will not be able to actually connect the road to the lot unless you do what A Nonny Moose wrote.  However, your sims will still use the airport even though it doesn't look like the road connects to it.  What you could do (assuming you have NAM 31 installed), is use the Parking lot texture at the end ot the road so it looks like the airports partking lot and the road parking lot are connected.

if you use the route query and click on the airport it should show some traffic inbound.  These are the workers, not the passengers.  The game is not concerned with user traffic, only workers.

The road does not need to (and actually cannot) be dragged insde the airport lot, you only need to lay a road section along the side of the airport (better along the side with the terminal, for a more ralistic look). I would suggest laying a road, and not an avenue (or one-way road)), as the avenue is a "double" network, allowing only uni-directional traffic at each half, ie your sims may only be able to only get to the airport and not return (or the opposite). Of course layouts with avenues or one-way road are possible, only make sure that your sims can both get to the airport  and return. You don;t need any high-capacity connection (highway, rail, rapid transit or what) because all traffic from and to the airports (in SC4) is the... employees! But you can put such connections for aesthetics (a more realistic look), if you want. Some extension of your GLR or rail network connecting to the airport might look good, although it will be moving only employees.

Another problem with the airports is the crime bug. Mega-lots suffer from rampant crime because of a game bug. Surround your airport with a road or street (be "creative" about aesthetics here), and put two large (preferably Deluxe) police stations close to the airport, better at the two opposite corner. This improves things a lot.

No, you can't the maxis standard international airport doesn't has a road connection, its not a TEL (Transit Enabled Road) only if you edit it on the lot editor...

but the maxis airport is very unrealistic, i prefer you to use SCAG or RMIP airports.
