Joining games

I find it literally impossible to find existing games that it's possible to join using the ingame interface.

If I use the news stream on the main menu where it advertises "join xxx in region yyy" then those regions are all filled up! Why is a full region advertised?

The same goes for the "join a game" section.. every single game listed is over 3 weeks old, contains mostly inactives and are all full. Why are full games even listed?

I have no idea why this lobby works that way. I can't find free game either.

Other thing when I create public region no one ever joins, so I don't know what's the difference between public and private region.

Yeah, I know what you mean, why does it even show up, if it is already full, now I just look on here for available regions and cities to play in, I love this site! :D

I MUST misunderstand something because it can't possibly have been intended to "function" like this?

Nope you are not missing anything, they designed it that way. It's just a terrible design, which makes multiplayer games pretty much impossible without getting an invite from a friend. The region games forum is your best bed.

The upside is that when you play by yourself, the game is somewhat less baffling than when you toss in the region dynamics, at which point the games behavior makes even less sense.

You are right that playing in a region with other players is often much more annoying than playing by yourself, it just shows another weakness of sim city: game that was build around cooperation in a region makes playing solo easier. On top of that if you decide to play with others you have to go on forums and find people there becouse creating a functional lobby was too much.
