On the region view, how do i go about adding some shoreline, rivers, and lakes? I can't find it. Did I need to have done it before i started playing in my region???? Or, can I do it when i take a city tile before mayoring it? I really wanna have a town nearby with a lake or something. I need a beach destination.

Just stay in god mode to form rivers, beaches, etc and save and move on to the next. Once you go to mayor mode you can't go back

Erm, you can go back kind of.  Hold CTRL + ALT + SHIFT and then click on the mayor mode tool menu icon, this will bring up god mode tools OR you can just download the god mode terraforming in mayor mode mod(that's what I do).

 

Also if you want your maps to match up and not look all disjointed from editing your terrain in game you can get the sc4terraformer and terraform an entire map before you even begin playing(also what I do).  If you run a system with vista or better you will definitely have to download the msvcp71.dll file from the site that is listed in the readme for the sc4terraformer to get it to work, just take that .dll file and drop it right into the folder you have the sc4terraformer installed to(they don't tell you that but that is what you do with it when you get it).

CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+<click god mode icon> put you back in full god mode.  Be very careful.  Gross terraforming is not available at the region level.  You have to open each city.

 

However, if you have a gray scale map that can be rendered with the in-game renderer, you could use the Landscape Designer to view your region after you have altered the map with an editor.

 

On the other hand, you could also read the region into mapper.

 

Pretty much any god mode activity will destroy any city that is already built up.
