Black screen of death

For no apparent reason the screen goes black because it loses the input signal from the desktop. The computer is still running but is non-responsive. I have to hard boot the computer. It's happened several times within the past few days. I've been reading on EA that many other folks are having this same issue. Many people at first attributed this problem to hardware issues but with ever new case, it seems more and more like it is a Simcity problem. I also believe that it is not related to my hardware since my computer is 5 months old with 3rd gen i7 and AMD 7870 and Simcity is the ONLY game that gives me any problems at all.

Has anyone experienced these same symptoms and do you know of any ways to resolve this issue? It is quite a shame how this game is turning out to be. The more I play it, the more I start to think that this is a very flawed product. The fun and excitement of wanting to spend any time with this game has been sucked out of me now.

This is similar to The game crashes - the game window goes black and connot be moved.  I can open up the task manager but cannot close up Simcity.  I end up rebooting.  When I do this the computer says "Origin" is what was refusing to let the computer shut down.

So the problem may not be Simcity specifically, but Origin.

I've actually stopped playing this, because of the constant freezing, it's just too much and i'm not rich enough to afford a hardware upgrade. I would be looking at around 300+ for video power supply and ram upgrade and that's without labor costs ( mine was an off the showroom floor job)

so this game has been canned for me. the constant freezing is just one bridge too far. i'm beginning to think it's not so much SimCity it's origin, it only started after origin forced me to update a while ago..all was working "okay" before then.

Most games do this to me... IDK what it is, but both of my games are EA games.

This is an old post almost necrobumping.

I had this happen to me a long time ago. Sounds like:

Control Panel>System & Security>Power Options>Change plan settings

Turn off the Display: Never

Put Pc to sleep: Never

Change advanced power settings:

Hard Disk: Turn off hard disk after: 20 min put to never.

Maybe this helps.
