Re introducing the trams in the big cities seems to be the trend, see London, Paris, Manchester or Amsterdam, not to speak about cities where the trams are the main attraction like Lisboa. Missing this badly because an European metropolis without old or new design tram looks like a provincial god-forsaken place. Also over land trams like there were in use in Mid and North England would be a candz to the eye. Could any of the gentlemen who are posting such a lovely lots, mods and bats be able to create this transportation please.....1.gif

I agree, trams would be a great idea. I'm studying at the university of Bremen, Germany and i have the use the tram every morning to go there. I like them more than buses, they are faster, have more space and much larger than buses.
Would be cool to see them in the game.1.gif

I too would love to see Trams into the game. I think it is quite simple for modders.

1. Duplicate the rail network (Not sure if you can) (If you can't, use the existing network)
2. Model Trams in GMAX and export or something
3. Create Tram Stop Lots for Rail
4. Change the rail textures to look more tram line like.

If any modders read this, please reply and say if it's possible.
Thanks

this was tried before, the dirt road network which was being used to act as a tram network didn't let the trains work properly, also whats the point of trams if you cant get them to go on the road?
the best bet would probably be with the advancements made with the network addon mod, will have to ask tropod for the full answer on that 9.gif

quite simple?! not quite.... like frogface said, I'll leave the full answer to Tropod, but copying a transit network is not at all easy...

Most tram networks DO go on roads in real life.. they are meant as an alternative to cars carrying at least 20++ people in taking only a space of usually 2 cars..

I didn't mean quite simple as like, pressing ctrl-c but i thought it wouldn't be as hard as making an 8 highway cloverleaf or something like that (Now that's hard!!!). Anyway, i'll wait for Tropod's reply and see what he thinks.

If you introduced a tram network, you would have to introduce a new accident type; motorcycle slipping on wet tramtrack and going A over T!3.gif I live in Melbourne (Oz) and tram tracks are trecherous at this time of year (winter) for bikes.

It would be lovely if it could be done, missing it really, the tram adds19.gif18.gif certain something to the city. There are also the over land tracks using free rail of course but a street rail would be the best catching the eye. Underground trams have some similarity to the metro, the cars are smaller of course, but what about to connect the metro to the tram net? Now it goes only to the high rail which is a noble speedy train and speaking about it what about a connection with normal train rail, between the high and ground level I mean? Speaking about trains what about crossings in different levels like there are already for the avenue.........
I know, I am expressing difficult wishes and do not know anything about the creating so pls excuse me if I am pointing to difficult matters.

you could put trams in the median of avenues but you probobly can't have the turn right lane mod and to change the lights

    (tram comes along smash)
