Ever noticed when you have farms and the roadways you place that follows them, there is automically the highest traffic areas you'll see?  Come on, that's not real life....

Anybody know of any plugin that would do the opposite to where it's less traffic like in real life?  I saw this link thinking it may have something to do with it...  would this do it?

The Network Addon Mod should help you.  I build small towns using mostly just streets.  It accurately mods the transportation network accurately - the capacity is increased as well as possible distance driven.

It's just the automata you see. The actual traffic isn't very high.

The SPAM mod has an optional traffic simulator component that drastically reduces the shown automata in fields. Unfortunately, it's completely incompatible with the NAM, so (just about) nobody can use it.

Are you talking about the eye-candy traffic or the result of a route query?  The cars on the roads are just eye-candy.  The simulation result can be seen using the route query or the traffic flow display.

I actually like the excessive eye candy on farm roads, although not very realistic. It kind of adds a lively vibe to the farming communities, thereby enhancing the playing experience. Don't get me wrong, I like realism but I don't like when a simulation gets dull. The fact that I once fell asleep while flying a passenger jet from New York to London in Flight Simulator 2004 may have contributed to why I see things this way.

Look in your game control panel and decrease the automata option.  You can have very sparse cars if you wish.

It pretty much looks like the I-5 in the San Joaquin Valley. Which is probably what the people at Maxis had in mind.
