I have yet to purchase Simcity 2013. I have my reservations about buying it.

I have heard many reviews and it has been both positive and negative. I wanted to get some personal insight from you guys.

I'm heavily invested in Simcity 4, and I had continued to do more investing. Personally, I enjoy the graphics of Simcity 4 better, it seems less "cartoonish" to me. I love 4 as my favorite computer game but if I get the new Simcity, I'd have to love it more.

So I wanted to hear it from you, the best and the worst. Not what critics say, what you, the simcity loving players say.

I want to thank everyone in advance for the posts.

I would wait to buy the game if I were you. The game is currently broken and unfinished. Always online DRM issues aside, the game itself has many bugs. Glassbox is a poorly designed and untested engine. Sims for example will not show up for work in another city if they're supposed to. Water/power might not be transported to other cities. Pathfinding is horrendous since Sims will often take the shortest and most congested route (i.e. clogged dirt roads) instead of the fastest (multiple lane avenues). It seems the folks at Maxis really wanted to make a good game but they didn't have time for some major QA with EA breathing down their necks. The game may or may not be fixed in days, weeks, or even months. We don't know at this point. So I wouldn't buy it just yet. In it's current state I would not pay more than $20 for it. Also, in my honest opinion after playing 2 betas and watching many reviews/gameplay videos this game is a direct downgrade from SimCity 4. They took out a variety of features such as terraforming, modding, large cities, contiguous cities, ploppable highways, ordinances, and subways to make this a casual, social and online only experience. This is more like SimTown instead of SimCity. Want to make a fictional metropolis surrounded by farms/suburbs, or even replicate a real-life one like New York? You can't. The game's only redeemable features at this point are curved roads and building modules. Glassbox is too bug ridden and will frustrate people once they start playing the game for a while. This game may be a fine game on its own after all the server issues/gameplay bugs are fixed, but it is definitely not a worthy successor to SimCity 4 that we had all hoped for.
