Miscellaneous Game Mechanics Question

1. Has anyone figured out how education works? The game info provided is very vague and limited; can I replace the grade school with a high school or do they serve separate age groups, ditto for community colleges and universities.

2. How can I get students to go to university in another city so the tech level in the region increases or is that not possible.

3. Workers, why are they only ~10% of the population, what are the other 90% of the people in my city doing. How do I get skilled workers, do students eventually graduate into workers and I simply need to let the game run for a while?

1. Elementary schools, high schools, and higher education all teach different age groups of sims, just like in SimCity 4.

2. Students would have to commute to other cities and stay in dorms in order to attend universities. Community colleges are local only.

3. Public buildings need workers and commercial buildings do as well. If your RCI/Zoning advisor does not say "Unemployemnt Crisis" then you should be OK.

This is all informatin available on the internet.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

Yeah but that info isn't available in game, the population tab doesn't break down students by age group and I've tried deleting the grade school and replacing it with a high school and there's no apparent negative effect, the same amount of students still go to school. And the University has a info thing that says "local students and regional students" so it must be possible for them to commute.

As to workers, the problem is I have a bunch of unfilled jobs, at 50k population I only have 5k workers which doesnt make sense to me.
