after a total of at most a hour of gameplay and countless hours of waiting. it occured to me that my friends could devistate and render a region useless with one bad gameplay after a night of drinking or just having fun with the game( like we should be able to do.... one of simcity's and the sims core values.)  at least in co op games you can kill a bad team mate... i have shot my best friend plenty of times in the head in cod but  cant do it on this game :) ....

I don't really agree.

There are only a few things that can go bad if your friend really gets things wrong:

1. Crime

Criminals will spill over into your city every once in a while from a city that has a high crime rate.

2. Pollution

Air pollution in the region will get worse if your friend builds a ton of industrial zones.

And that is pretty much it. Air pollution in other cities won't really have much of an effect on other cities though. And for the criminals... you just need to have an extra cop-car lot or two. You can even keep them turned off most of the time, because there seems to be a timer for when criminals from other cities invade your own. Just turn those extra car lots on when you get the little pop-up message about criminals.

Sure, you won't be able to buy water or power or sewage treatment from his city, but that isn't really a big deal. And if he's doing poorly, there is a higher chance that he'll buy some of your resources, which will make you richer!

Also note that only regions that have direct connections to each other can interact with each other. Some of the larger maps have 4 regions with 4 connected cities. If you are that worried about your drunk friend making things worse, just make sure to claim a city in a different region that is not connected to his.

my fear is the human nature to destroy and in sim games it is.... what if  I depend on him for water and power and he totally screws it up while i have a full city with no room to mod???? from what i have seen the only end game is an end game... granted i could try to stem the tide of water and power outages but there would be no recovery with this sim model .... for me and anyone else in the region.... granted i havent gotten a decent amount of playing time but there is way to much trust in humanity in this system....we are evil by nature more so in a simulated enviroment.....

lol. you don't have to worry about your friend ruining your play because he might stop giving you water or power... because the servers will do that for him by themselves!

multi-city play is completely borked right now. You just cannot rely on it at all, even if you own all the cities in the region.

Hopefully EA will fix it soon, but I fear that the original servers will remain with such a high player population that they will stay broken. Maybe I should try re-rolling on one of the new servers to see if things are better there.

The only thing that City A can do to massively impact City B in a negative way that City B can't do anything about whatsoever is City A can ship lots of pollution over.

Everything else you can do something about, and even pollution doesn't render your city unplayable--it just lowers your land values, but you can still get high wealth in your city.

Your city could be totally full and dependent on the other one for a vast amount of services. If thats the case, him destroying his city could do a LOT of damage.
