How to accept money gift?

My brother and I are playing an awesome region we've invested lots of time into. Our initial two cities filled up on space, so we expanded to new ones. My new city is going to focus on education and technology. I took out three bonds to get my new city up and running as quickly as possible. The whole place is zoned, so it will be profitable in about 2 hours of game time.

I sent a gift of $1 million to the city. The problem is, I got so excited I forgot to pay attention to my current city funds before accepting the gift. I need that money gift from my other city to continue. How do I accept it?

I dont have the game yet but from what I have read and seen across streams, my guess would be you would have to just keep playing the city and the money will get delivered eventually. The money actually travels in an armored truck from one city to another so depending on the traffic and distance between two cities. The time it takes for the money to reach will vary.

It can take a while. The servers are still all fucked up right now. Sometimes I'll be playing and then randomly receive a bunch of money that I sent the day before. Even if you watch the armored truck go from one city to the other, the gift still won't show up for several hours sometimes.

Keep an eye on the 'Recent Transactions' area of your City Budget panel. The gift will eventually show up there.

In the meantime, if you're out of money, take out a couple of loans via the 'Bonds' thing in the City Budget panel. That should give you a little leeway until the gift comes through. If your budget is in the red and your loosing to much money, disable some of your more expensive services. At least until your city can grow enough to put you in the green.

And send smaller amounts next time. It really sucks to have 1 million dollars in limbo.

EA really needs to get their $%&^! together because it really hurts multi-city play to not know if/when your gifts are going to come through.

When sending a gift from one city, does the other city have to catch up before it receives the gift?

For example, I send a gift from a city which shows the transaction with a date of Sept Year 2. The new city would not receive the gift until it gets to Sept Year 2.

Hopefully this is not the case and is a server issue but when I've been playing in a private region it felt like this is how the gifts worked.

Hi guys, summon a disaster like an earthquake if you can. The time somehow will flow again and the server will refresh the budget.

(I think it is a sync problem related to the fact that the time ins not running (on the city))

You're all welcome, I give you my city name so you can thank me with goods LOL

While summoning a disaster is one way to do it, any server syncing action will do. For example, restart SimCity. If that doesn't work, let a few months pass ingame, then try again. Given the servers have mostly lightened up, there shouldn't be too large of a problem.

You do not have to wait until the equivalent time (Receiving city doesn't have to be in Sept, Year 2 if that is when the Sending city sent the gift). Time measurement in this game is from the founding of the city - not regional. This is why they don't have any good weather effects. City 1 could be in December of Year 153, while City 2 is in July of Year 1.

Edit: I did see on the reddit for SimCity a Maxis developer said the money is carried 'via agent.' But I'm not sure if he means via an armored truck with the money inside, or via the road system agents (water, power, sewage, etc.), or what. Agents could mean a lot of different methods of delivery in the Glassbox. But, at least we know its transportation from one city to another is being physically modeled somehow...

Because of the way the servers are still not optimal, I tend to send money in chunks.  Instead of sending 300,000 I'll send it in smaller chunks of maybe 50,000 or 100,000 at a time just in case it gets "lost in transit". At least that way not all of the money is stuck in limbo somewhere as I wait until it's received by my other city before I'll send the next chunk.

In any event you need do nothing to accept it, it will simply show up at some point in time depending on how derped your server is at the time it could be 5 minutes or 3 days or more.  With that said, the longest I've personally waited for a transfer was about 5 hours.

    Thalassicus from Civfanatics forums? :)

Anyway, first you need to get the message in the sender city "You have sent $$$ to city X".

Then you have to play in the other city until you get the message "X has sent you $$$".

Non of these works since (IF) you CANNOT let the time flow, it keeps paused until you solve bankrupcy. One way to get the time running (and sync the city with the server) is summon a disaster ...

I know you guys are talking about server problems, but that was the only way to work it for me. Once the disaster was triggered all the money I've sent in the past were suddenly cashed in my city account. (it was like from chapter eleven to filthy rich! lol)

    Hi guys,

For 2 years this has been a major issue I have been trying to work through in getting money to transfer in a region without hiccups of one type or another. But I have mastered it finally. And it was so easy just staring me in the face. I was wrapped that I didn't have to use cheats or rely upon the default 50K to build my new cities.

I have made two videos on Youtube called Sim City 2013: GIFTING MONEY QUICKLY PT 1 & 2. You are welcome to visit.

Gifting or transferring money in Sim City works on the same principle as real world finances.

VERY IMPORTANT: Set your game time to CHEETAH SPEED. Don't worry if you don't see the Green Arrow as sometimes there are glitches with Video graphics due to all the activity going on in your resource city. As long as you hear the Chi..Chiiiing when you press SEND GIFT. The transfer has happened.

    1) Choose the city to send money to

    2) Choose the amount and then gift it

    3) Visit the city (physically LOAD IT) that you have sent money to...really, really, really important.

    4) Reload the resource city(city where money was sent from) and then simply check the bank account of the receiver city. The money will be there!

No using disasters...no saving and reloading the game....no waiting for a change in the Budget Panel...easy peasy 1..2..3!

Before uploading my video I ran 50 individual money transactions and my results were 50/50. I resourced a whole region 2 million simoleons across 5 transactions in just 2.52 mins. Please visit my video and see how easy it is.
