As it stands now this game doesn't deserve a single star with these online issues. The games great, the Online DRM is TERRIBLE. Basically, nobody can play.

Maxis posted an "update patch" to address some of the issues, among the fixes was disabling cheetah speed and leader boards. Seriously they are disabling game features now instead of JUST ADDING MORE SERVERS. This has gone from a bad screw up to a colossal one.

*hint - the problems are probably not server capacity - the server software must have a very huge flaw. Throwing servers at the problem won't resolve a server software issue, there will simply be more servers with crap software on it.

825 reviews 1 star ...

With more than half of those 1-star reviews being posted before the game went live.  Read the actual reviews, and you see a lot of people complaining about the DRM and map sizes on purely theoretical grounds, and a whole lot of "and that's why I won't buy it" comments.  That's right, you don't actually have to buy the product to review it...

Except that if you look at the reviews by people who are verified purchasers, they aren't any better.

Also, where do you see these mysterious reviews from before launch, because I don't see any. Amazon doesn't allow reviews before the game launches. There are a few before March 5 but if you look they're verified purchasers. (If you read one of them it remarks that Amazon released the download code earlier than they had said they would.

LOL you said exactly what i said a few post back :P

Oops, my bad. I did add a note about Verified Purchasers :P

Maybe repetition will help. it seems many simply disregard the facts when making their arguments about the reviews. I've seen countless arguments about reviews before release on Amazon now in all the threads talking about them.

Amazon also won't sell Nintendo systems anymore directly :bunny:

(The systems listed are sold by 3rd parties)

You always seem to be out to prove you have no freaking clue what you are talking about. That is Jason Haber.

I don't understand how a major company like EA could screw this up so wonderfully. It would be understandable for a smaller company to have server issues, but not one of the largest video game companies out there.

I'd rather have Error 37 because at least by this time (2nd day after release) the game was playable. Sure not every kink in the armor was ironed out but you could at least PLAY the day of the release.

Good luck with doing that in Sim City. Almost Day 3 now. And MORE people are coming in tomorrow with the UK release.

It is surprising even me.  I was hoping that this would happen because of the design decisions that they stubbornly went ahead with despite all of the opposition but I never would have dreamed the problems would be as catastrophic as they are.

Karma.
