Region Rendering Problem

    Hello all

This summer, my HD went bad and I lost much of my stuff to include SimCity 4. Anyway, I just got it back on my computer and now I am back and want to start again.

Following the instructions, I created a new region, moved my desired config.bmp to the folder, and then hit option-control-shift-r to bring up the dialog. On my non 1024x1024 regions a dialog box comes up saying it must be 1024x1024. However on 1024x1024 regions, nothing happens after I select the picture.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

I should add that I have done this successfully before.

    Thanks

Interestingly enough, nearly the same situation is true for me as well, what with the hard drive crashing and just now restoring it.

I had been previously able to render regions that were rectangular but not square, however, now that dialogue 1024x1024 box comes up. I assume that the square regions larger than that have been reduced to 1024x1024 (the Grenoble map on STEX is larger, IIRC) but they do load, unlike kmannkoopa.

Kmannkoopa, did you download the newest version of the NAM, which was updated 5 October, I believe?

I think the number should be 1025x1025, but if you do have the right size config.bmp, copied in in the region folder, and nothing happens, usually means your grayscale is not a grayscale.

    Just a reminder:  grayscale to config.bmp ratio = 64:1 plus 1

The problem I had was wrong config.bmp. I put in the right one and it started working (at least until it unexpectedly quit). I just needed more attention to detail

    Thanks for the prompt responses.

Not knowing the map, or size of the region, I will say there is no limit to the size of the region, that I know of, but rendering it is a different story.  There are limits to what the game [computer] will fully render, parts will show terrain, the rest will be flat that needs manual use of the God tools.
