Fredval, excellent update again, beautifully detailed, and I like many of the custom lots that you have made for your CJ.

    Thanks everybody for the nice comments.
    After a trip to Birmingham, I'm back to Aldebaran. I haven' played a lot yesterday but here is the result :

    NAVY BASE OF MAPLEWOOD

    Maplewood is not really famous for its farms or villas but for its navy base. To protect against whom ?  Nobody knows really. After all, Aldebaran planet is only one nation. It's probably the paranoiac feeling of human being which is still strong, even on other planets 44.gif

    Here is below another view of the Navy base.

    That's all for today !

    Thank you Jacqulina for your comments. It's always regenerating to see that at least one person or two have given attention to an update that took you 2 hours to achieve 29.gif

    Here is below a picture of WHARTON, on the island of Ocanta, off MAPLEWOOD's navy base.
    No beaches on Ocanta, therefore tourists ignore this place. Nevertheless, WHARTON deserves interest : walking along the cliffs is realy refreshing for urban sims and the dome's interior (close to the ferry) is amazingly decorated with gold and wood.

    <ahttp://www.imgcity.net/server/primary/fredval191.jpg align=baseline>

    Since Dhoppei liked the Navy base of MAPLEWOOD, here is another picture of it that I had taken some time ago...
    It gives also a good view on MAPLEWOOD's residential area.

    <ahttp://www.imgcity.net/server/primary/fredval199.jpg align=baseline>

    And in the end, before definitely leaving MAPLEWOOD. As you can see with this global view, most people of the city work in the Navy base (50% of the citizens) or in the military industry (20%). Also 10% of the citizens work in the agriculture/fishing sector.

    Fredval,

    I love the latest updates!

    I've got a question for ya... in that latest update, is the warship that is away from the pier spawned by the pier (and thus floating around on its own) or is it plopped like those old Japanese lots (the ones you have from the old Aldebaran, on the first page).

    Keep up the good work!

    Awesome updates Fredval, perhaps the navy base is to protect against aliens that are waiting to strike from underground just like war of the worlds4.gif The island of Ocanta is great, a very natural look19.gif Great pics, keep it up44.gif

    fredval - I know I've said it before, but I love how colorful your pics are.  Wharton is a grand looking island.  I really like the domed building near the ferry port.  Thanks for another look at the Navy Base.  It is rather nice.  It looks kind of dirty and grunging, just the way I would expect it to look....Wonderful finishing shot.  I just love those type of global pics.

    Thanks a lot everybody for your pleasant and warmful comments.

    I have not enough time on these days to update this thread but I will surely come back soon.

    All my regards go to Londoners today. We, Parisian, for some strange and dubious reasons will certainly never know the pleasure of hosting the Olympic Games, but we already know the fear and the feeling of insecurity that multiple bomb attacks in the subway can bring.

    I have many friends in London, thankfully all of them are safe. My thoughts go to them tonight. 34.gif

    After MAPLEWOOD I'm going to develop the West Coast of the island.
    From the begining, I've have been focusing on the South and the East. Nevertheless, the landscape of the West Coast is much more colonization-friendly. Large valleys allow agriculture to develop and flat sea shores enable neverending residential districts to spread.

    <ahttp://www.imgcity.net/server/primary/fredval231.jpg align=baseline>

    Residential areas such as this one, on top of a small hill :

    <ahttp://www.imgcity.net/server/primary/fredval220.jpg align=baseline>

    The flatness of the land also allows a network of canals. This was impossible in the rest of the island.

    These canals can be a good place for parks and entertainment, as below ...

    <ahttp://www.imgcity.net/server/primary/fredval221.jpg align=baseline>

    Or they can be a good transit network for industrial barges, as here under :

    Wow, your pictures look really vibrant and it really makes your city come alive. I like the water texture too; I'll have to read through more closely to find out where you got it. Keep up the good work.

    Great updates as usual Fredval; the canals are amazing! I've got a question: in your update of july 1, you present a picture-mosaique of the navy base of Maplewood, and I recognize a japanese BAT in there: it's the industrial harbor with the water-purification building on it; could you provide a link where I can download it? It looks absolutely stunning! (or is it also available on the STEX? Many kournalers use it in their cj's) Compliments on your work, good job!
