Any chance anyone can help me?

    This has happened:

    20zty6f.jpg

I can't click behind either of the boxes on any cities, and clicking anywhere on the boxes selects that city. I tried turning off custom res. and resaving in 1024x768 but it didn't fix it.

It happens whenever I exist to region after opening a city. I even started a new region, completely blank, opened 1 new city, saved and exited to region, and that happened. So once I open a city it becomes like this. It doesn't seem to happen on the really tiny cities, or when I open a new city and then exit to region without saving it.

    Welcome to Simtropolis...

Is this something new? Some have noticed similar things as being related to video card issues on newer machines. You might check the video settings to be sure that they are set to "Application Controlled" wherever possible. You also might set the game's graphics to software.

-Nothing new. Just downloaded the game yesterday on Steam. Haven't played it in years.

-I do not know how to change to application controlled.

-I tried setting the game's graphics to software, but upon reopening the game it just flickered like crazy, so I switched back to hardware.

Well, this is machine dependent but I'll try to explain.

Somewhere in your system you have access to the controls on your Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), and it is evidently set to use all possible advanced options.  SimCity 4 Deluxe is a legacy game that was written well before any of these were available.  It gets thoroughly messed up when any of these are on, because it is trying to do what they do, so you are getting a conflict.

Open this control panel.  Somewhere in the controls is a set of 3D options.  You want to set them to "application selected" or equivalent wording so that the program being loaded can set or reset these options as needed.  SC4 will turn all of them off.

If nothing else, you can turn them all off manually, but this is not recommended if you run other stuff that needs them.

You'll probably have to be in administrator mode to do this.
