Mayor Rating Very Low

My city has about 1.3 million sims in it. The health data layers are mostly green except for a bit of yellow in my slum area. My education is all green. The air pollution is a bit of an issue along busy roadways, but it has improved a lot. Crime is low for the size of my city. Schools, libraries, hospitals, police stations and fire stations cover the whole city. My commute times are high because people decide to work across the city. There are enough jobs in each area. When I look at my graphs for average income, it is at $15,000. It was once at $60,000. I have bus lines that can cover the whole city, there are subways that cover a lot also.

I have created more jobs and my city has improved a lot. The mayor rating has gone down at the same time. I think that the income has a lot to do with the mayor rating.

Please tell me how I can fix this. Thanks in advance.

I have had the same problem. It seems that the only fix is staying away from custom plops, or balancing any super tall plops from downloads with a lot of in game High Tech Industry. And I mean a lot. You basically have to have what the game considers its own jobs out weighing anything you've added to it. Otherwise your income falls off a cliff as you plop and build your cities. I guess the average income is something the file creators here have not looked into as they are designing for overall demand and astetics more so that desigining for long term game affects. Hope this helps.

Ok. Thanks. The problem is, I have a lot of plops in the city. I don't like a lot of the maxis lots, so I want these plops.

Plops are difficult. They also lead to "ghost commuters". I use them very rarely to replace existing structures. Most of the stuff I download shows up as growables.

There are lots of good growth lots on the STEX and other exchanges.  Try finding some of them, and reduce the plops.  Residential plops are a dead end because they are not provided for in the game kernel.  With the exception of rewards, landmarks and civic buildings the game kernel doesn't really allow for custom plops.

Custom growables, on the other hand, are quite useful.  Have a look at MattB325 (BSC), JMeyers, Paeng, MadHatter106.  A general search on 'growables' might be useful.

Thank you. But I had a city with about the same population before I started installing bats and mods. It had the same problem also, except not as bad.

Another thing to look at is your Sims ages.  Look at both the population by age display, and the graph.  In the display, the bluer the older.  These people in general want museums and libraries rather than schools.  If many of them are over retirement age and you have few young Sims, you need to do something to attract them.  This usually means inexpensive housing and schools.  It is a balancing act.

Sometimes I find the mayor rating shoots thru the roof for myself if I plant a bunch of trees.  Kinda found that out by accident, it seems whenever I flooded the city with "God mode" trees, the mayor rating goes up.

    Could be worth a try.

Thanks, but the problem is that before I built the city, I put trees all over the place.

Open your Data Views map and then click on Mayor Rating.  Is the entire map covered in red?

Never mind.  I didn't read your OP very clearly.  Sorry 'bout that.

Before I start I city I cram it so full of trees in god mode the Amazon Rainforest looks barren compared to it 8).

I have never had a negative mayoral rating (and that's from a republican mayor for life ;)).

Is your game running slowly?  All those trees are objects in the simulation and have to be checked each pass to see if they have changed.

Really? I didn't know that. I just assumed I have an older computer and expected it to run slow. Never realized the game takes individual trees into consideration. What bout them apples!!!
