Joshua - First - take a deep breath - breath out - and repeat!

Totally understand your excitement and impatience.... to achieve what you see takes patience and the desire to learn, and ask questions.

There aren't any shortcuts. This applies to life in general - you get out, what you are willing to put in. :thumb:

Take the time to think about your most important concern and post back with one question... we'll be here to help! :D

I recommend choosing a real life region which you will be basing your journal off of, such as: Japan, England, America, Mexico, UAE, etc. After choosing the specific region, download as much custom content that relates to that specific region. You can also go creative and use some other regional buildings and mix it with others to make a whole new, creative journal.

This guy, smileymk, is running one of the best tutorials ever!!, go through his step by step program. It's amazing. He will start you out with one tile, go over basics, then you begin a 4 tile region and learn how to connect them, it's alot of fun and you will get much of the informatiuon you are looking for to make realistic cities

    Have fun, and luck!!

And joshua, take some more time in your writing. Punctuate. Use good sentence structure. The stream of consciousness style is too hard to follow so many people just don't bother with it.

I would say take real life as inspiration. I spend many a late night exploring road layouts on Google Maps exploring cities and see how they are.

Also I would say have a look around your town for inspiration. I'm fortunate enough to live in a big city (4 million people), so there is a lot to observe. Use the internet to research cities and find a style you like. Copy them and experiment with your own style.

Lastly, what style city are you looking to do? You say you want realistic, but a never-sleeping metropolis like Tokyo is vastly different to virgin wilderness. If you find a style you like, tell us and many here can link you other people's work that provides a good example of it.

    Best of luck!

    One word: progress.

People will become intrigued with your CJ if you show signs of growth, decay and change, They will follow your CJ if you show good signs of progress. It's something I learned as I 'progressed' along with my CJ.

    Good luck mate.
