Do the CAM and NAM cooperate with each other?

No offense intended to the developers of either the CAM or NAM, but my system just crashed and I am having to start from ground zero. I am wondering if it is worth it to install the CAM this time. It seems that there are a lot of LOTS that are CAM dependant and the LOTS look really good. But I don't want to install if it really isn't worth it.

Thoughts?

CAM and NAM deal with completely separate parts of the game, and aside from the pathfinding plugins in the CAM package (which you should not install--the CAM's creators recommend using the NAM traffic plugins, which have advanced considerably since the CAM's release in 2007), there's no possible conflict between the two. CAM deals with the RCI growable development simulation, where as NAM deals with transport networks.

My thought is, the NAM is more worth downloading than the CAM.

If you read the forums on CTD's, they'll help alot!! Crashes pretty much only occur for a select number of reasons, usually either plugin conflict, no update patch, or you hovered over a transit enabled lot, but check them out, they will help, luck...

The CAM does not cause any crashes, and it gets along fine with the NAM. I played most of my cities with both mods installed.

The NAM and the CAM are two very different mods. The NAM is much larger, and has many more options, and it fixes critical problems with the traffic simulator as well. For this reason, I think that the NAM is people's first choice for a mod. But the CAM is my second.

And that's why for me NAM is a must, but CAM is optional. :D

CAM complements the NAM well in my opinion. The CAM gives your city a longer growth curve; it takes longer to reach the "endgame" as opposed to unmodded SC4. The improved NAM simulators really help you use the CAM to its full potential, both by allowing your roads to accommodate the inevitable rise in car traffic and by increasing the amount of things you can do with regards to region play.

Currently, I do not have CAM loaded because my present model of play doesn't include huge, skyscraper-laden metropolitan areas. I cannot live without NAM. However, should my playing style change, and it often does, it may well include CAM. At the moment, most of my "cities" don't get to be over 500,000 Sims and few reach that. Mostly, I am creating villages, towns and small cities, often all together on a single large tile.

That was the answer that I was looking for. The last couple of posts were enough to convince me that the NAM comes first.

    Thanks everyone!!!
