No Water Shortage Warnings in Game

While playing the game, I watch the news ticker for any potential problems such as power and water shortages or overcrowded schools. I used to get warnings whenever my water pumps are operating near capacity. Now I don't know about any water shortages until the infamous zots pop up, and my adviser remains silent about the problem. Once a zot appears on a building, it is too late to save the building, because, even if I stop the simulator the instant the zot appears and add a pump to remedy the situation and restore water to the building's location, the zot remains until the building is abandoned. Once the building is abandoned, it never comes back, no matter how many sim years I run the simulator. I always have to demolish the vacant building. This has happened to me over a couple of times. I have no problem with power alerts and I still see the red warning alerts whenever power plants hit capacity or public services are stretched beyond their limits.

What difficulty level are you playing the city at?

Always remember to periodically check your units that power/water supply is no more than 90% of capacity!!

Indeed, there are no warnings when a water pump is aging or the capacity is near maximum. That thing did happen in my biggest city, and cause 6+ crisis in that city. The best way to solve this problem, as I know, is keep the game speed slow and anticipating for a water shortage. Another way is make sure if your city has some other water sources and not depended on one pump, so if one of them is aged or broken, then other pumps can still support your city. Also save frequently so you can replay the game if a shortage suddenly happened. However, it will be much better if someone can make a mod that can warn everyone when the capacity already reach maximum. At this moment the only warning is the 'No water, no way' warning.

I have had "no water" buildings come back. It takes a relatively long time, so patience is required. You should keep an eye on your water layout. If you start getting empty "rivers" in the blue patches, you have water trouble. That is probably the earliest warning you can get.

    Try taking a longer view.
