Need more then 1 college?

Hi sorry for all the questions . My current city is growing fast and has a pop of around 160,000 sims, I have 1 university, and 1 college, do you need more as your city grows? I already have a pretty good high tech presence in the city, but not sure how many of these education buildings I need.

If I understand correctly, you only need one college and/or university. They don't hold a limited radius of influence the way regular schools do. (More to the point, a college or university's radius of influence covers the entire city.)

Just one college in a single area. There's no need to add more.

All education buildings have capacity, yes?? Simply plop another ONLY if it full already.

Remember that your citizens also will grow older. In that case, they will need libraries and museums.

Don't neglect the Population by Age display and graph. These will tell you when you need education/entertainment facilities for older Sims.

Thanks, yes it is easy to neglect if you are not carefull.

That depends if the your college is cramped with students or not. Other than that, there's no need for another college. Though, as more sims move in( e.g. pop suddenly increases to 280,000 ), then it would be a good time to build another college or two. Won't hurt to build other educational systems though.

If you have more than one college/university, the enrolment will just split across them. If you are not overflowing as said above, one does it.

So when the university becomes available should one plop it down if your city college only has say... 1k students or wait till the college is overflowing? I like to place the university cause I then put the advanced research center in there as well as the minor league stadium nearby to give it that university feel and I still keep my city college usually in the downtown area...

Your choice. You can hold off and run with the college; find a good spot, usually out of town, for the University; bulldoze the college and drop in the Uni. It is all up to you. I sometimes add a college building on the edge of the University campus and label it as one of the special faculties (you can change the name by opening the query on it, and just over-typing the name. Permanent for Maxis buildings, temporary for others.
