Realistic water and grass?

Hi folks...just reading the "Eager newcomers" thread and it recommends a realistic water and grass mod (and mentions Cycledogg's modds)

I've had a look around but I can't find one....can someone point me in the right direction for a good modd?

Bit of a newbie question, but what is "hardware mode rendering"...?

If you use hardware mode rendering, the images are formed in the Graphics Processor by commands sent from the program using the drawing primitives built-in on the GPU. Most GPUs these days support a full range of standard commands from OpenGL.

Software rendering prepares the image in memory then transfers it directly to the GPU using it only as a frame buffer to display the image.

If you don't like the excessively green color of the Berner Oberland mod, you can try out Lowkee's Appalachian Mod. It's also on HD, but download the dependencies, as the textures of the mod are not included in the main download.

And CP's (Cycledogg's) terrain mods are found in SimCity4 Devotion's LEX, most also have a tree controller, but be aware that these are not in HD like the other ones mentioned.
