widescreen shortcut not working for me

Recently reinstalled SC4 from origin, running windows 7, and I have 2 monitors set up, and have SC4 on a 1920x 1200 screen. My shortcut reads

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Sim City\SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1200x32 -CPUcount:1

and it's not running widescreen. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I have Nvidia Inspector running, if that might mean anything(for FSX and a CAD program I use)

I'm not sure if you mean your game is not launching at all or it's launching with wrong resolution, but try adding -f (for fullscreen) or -w (for windowed mode). Otherwise your command line is correct.

It could be because you've downloaded it from Origin. SC4 From CDs or Steam seem to run widescreen well.

Here's my shortcut code for reference. I run at 1080p and windowed. Hope it helps!

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -Intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x64 -CPUPriority:high -d:DirectX -CPUCount:8 -w

If you've downloaded SC4 from Origin, you shouldn't need to append -CPUcount as I'm fairly sure that the Origin and Steam versions are already patched to use one core.

In any case the set up structure from Steam and Origin is not standard, and you will have to investigate this. At least one of them has a file for run-time options.

Yes I DL'd from Origin, but I installed it in the programx86 folder, and I don't start it up through Origin. I've been googling like a mad man, but to no avail.

does your 64bit shortcut in the resolution parameter anything? I thought the game won't go beyond 32bit visuals...

I seriously doubt that the '64' does anything. AFAIK, there are no 64-bit pixel representations. Even at 32-bit there is one slack byte.

I gave it a try and couldn't find any benefit from using a 64bit color depth modifier with the resolution setting...

as expected since anything higher than 8bit per channel came up after sc4; 64bit would suggest a 48bit color depth (16bit per channel) and 16bit alpha channel, somheting most graphic cards only recently support; which is bull imho as most screens barely go beyhond a 24bit color depth + 8bit alpha.

not to mention that the human eye is one shitty piece of technic, only capable of discerning about 10 million different colors, so anything beyond that is actually a waste of resources. since a perfectly matching depth code is inexistent, 24bit color depth (aka true color; 16,7million colors) is the way to go. these 24bit + 8 bit alpha channel represents the common 32bit visuals which are considered industrial standard.

so, long story short: sc4 is not capable of representing x64 visual modifiers, most likely your screen can't represent it either, and even if both were capable of doing so, you wouldn't even see it.

EDIT: the x64 modifier discussed only concerns visuals and has nothing to do with sytem performances; say 32bit vs 64bit OS... maybe worth mentioning this

    back to topic:

good to hear it finally works.
