Unfortunately, my lovliest City Journal JPEG picture was too big to upload, even though it's only 1.9MB. Upsetting, right? Anyone got any tips on compressing their sizes?

You shouldn't be trying to upload images onto this site. You only have a grand total of 500MB. Large images should be placed off-site on a photo site such as photo bucket.

I use my private web site, and with its limit of 20GB including any incoming e-mail. I try to keep it down to 15. This means that for me there is no such thing as upload and forget it. I can't, for example, make a CJ using my web site because I'd be out of space in no time. I'd have to use one of the photo sites, and I suggest you do the same. With these sites be sure you get the right URL to embed the images in your CJ.

I'm pretty sure I don't know what I'm talking about right now... :O ...but just in the hope this little tidbit of information proves useful in the future, you could try opening the .jpeg in the Paint program that comes with Windows (assuming you use Windows) and then resize it. Start with a reduction of 50% and you'd be amazed at how it compresses the size. That's usually what I do when I have a large picture file of several MBs that I want to trim into a few hundred KBs.

Images like this have to be placed on a picture storage site. The one attached to this post is 1.9 MB and would never fit in the user allocation allowed for members on this site. Pictures used here do not have to be uploaded here.
