Does anyone know why my sim city tax window (left) is different from pretty much all of the tax windows I've been seeing on youtube (right)? Any help would be appreciated.

The picture on the left is my computer running at 1920x1080. The other picture is one I captured from a youtube video, I think he was running his game at 720.

it could be Daeley's Tracking Mod : https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=416 .... requires registration and login for download

i personally have never got it to work but it does alter the tax window, i can't find the video that will demonstrate in action i'm afraid

Do you know why mine on the left looks so basic? I saw no expansion button, and I'm pretty sure I installed the latest update.

the layout of your buttons at the bottom seems weird too, not the standard layout that came with my game, like the budget and graph buttons, are you running PC or Mac, or possible outside the US?

This is a vanilla install of launch copy Sim City 4 PC (not deluxe) off CD. I patched it with whatever EA recommended to be the latest update. I read up on Sim City 4 Deluxe and I saw nothing that said it added a menu like this, only the rush hour expansion.

Awesome. Exactly what I was looking for. I looked all over the net and like nobody has asked this question before XD I guess deluxe is the standard these days. Now I have to figure out how to get a copy of deluxe, or just repurchase the game on steam. I still have the 1993 copy XD

Never seen that one. Perhaps it is a special mod?

    It's vanilla SC4.

Yeah that's what the original SC4 looked like. People barely remember it because Deluxe has become the standard version of the game ever since it came out. However, I played the original SC4 when it released (I was 9 years old IIRC), and I can remember vividly what the old controls looked like. Most of what we take for granted in SC4 today didn't even exist until Deluxe was released.

My vanilla disks are still good. Maybe I'll open a new account and install it to check on that. It's been a long time since I had the original game installed.

It's Vanilla SC4. They expanded the Taxes window's functionality with Rush Hour. You also won't be able to see commute routes, place Avenues or Ground Highways or use virtually any of the mods made for the game in the last nine years.

Also, Deluxe = Vanilla + Rush Hour on one CD set installed at the same time.

A vanilla installation with Rush Hour installed on top has two different files compared to Deluxe, and only two, both of which are in intro.dat. The intro movie for Deluxe is edited to remove the Rush Hour text across the bottom of the splash at the very end (The screeching tires sound effect used when the 'Rush Hour' text is stopping in the centre of the screen is still there though) and the "Rush Hour" text has been replaced with "Deluxe Edition" in the PNG file.
