Lelystad: a real life simcity

Hello all!

I found this promotion video about the city I live in, Lelystad, The Netherlands. And I was astounded by the simcity level of it.

Not only the city itself was builded from scratch when the land was reclaimed in the 60's, also the future plans are somehwat similar to those you see in City Journals

We always make jokes about how tough our lives are, living here but in fact it's a pretty awesome place to live

Feel free to ask, as I live here I can probably answer!

Yeah, Im from Holland too, it's easy here to build specific buildings with the flat land. But higher buildings are a problem because of all the clay in the ground!

Wow, it is a lot like Simcity. It doesn't seem like that bad of a place either, I would live here.

@ Carrotcake07: That's true, but there's not much need of high buuldings in Lelystad as there's space enough!

@Kruness: Yep, in the Oostvaardesplassen but also in the Lelystad nature park (Natuurpark Lelystad) they tried to recreate The Netherlands as it was in the prehistory. A very interesting project/experiment.

@Jacksunny: I was astounded aswell! Though much of what you see in the animations is already there. I certainly do enjoy living there!

Are the roads in 'Downtown' grade separated or at least partially along the main carriageway? I can't make it our clearly from the images.
