I am currently unable to get SC4 Terrain Maker to make anything resembling a landscape, no matter how hard I try. I am currently using a 20x20 grid of medium and large cities, as shown below:

My goal is to have a coastline at ocean level, that gradually and gently slopes upwards, until it reaches mountain level. After the mountains, it transitions back into flat, level plains. Here is my horrid sketch:

If anyone could to this for me, I would be much obliged. If you post your email address, i'll toss you a $5 Amazon gift card for your trouble.

    Thanks in advance.

well to start off... your config file needs to be variant....the same tone of 4x4blue and 2x2green cant touch each other... or else you will deal with the game's region will look a little.....weird

secondly.... no one should be paid to create something with almost zero income..... in other words, you are better off learning your self... this way you will have something to feel proud of in the end... trust me

have you tried sc4terraformer?.... lets be honest, in game terraforing will get you no where.....

EDIT.... this should probably be in the builders fourms rather than general

I'll do it for free if when you create a city journal you cite me, but I won't do the terraforming.

It is unimportant to use variants of the colours. The only requirement is that each given city shape have the designated colour at full saturation.

    Red (255,0,0)

    Blue (0,255,0)

    Green (0,0,255)

Other values are actually irrelevant, but should be kept below 200 for clarity.

I suggest you start by using the to get an opening gray-scale map. Read the help files carefully.

With this tool, you can generate an initial map then hand modify it to suit. I seem to remember that sea-level is 80 on the gray-scale between 0 and 255. You can save the map, manipulate it, then read it back into LD to see how you are doing. When you get done, you can use the config.bmp generator to create your config.bmp.

After you have finished manipulating the grey-scale map be sure you have not inadvertently converted it to an rgb image or the render will not run. Use a good editor; photoshop or the GIMP, and don't be shy about working at very high magnification. You can use layers as you work, then collapse them into a single image before going back to LD. Preferred format is .jpeg.

This works outside the game, and no renders need be done until you are ready to test. No strange files such as .sc4m are created. This package works strictly within the requirements of the game itself.

DIY has always been a feature of the open-endedness of this program. So have fun, and good luck.
