Missing City, How to solve this?

After building a big airport in this city and almost done, i save it. When saving my laptop blink (or flashing) then when i close my SC4 and play again, the city is lost ! it's annoying if i must do it again from the very first. it will take 3 days non-stop without go to school and sleeping.

because of that i ask in the simtropolis, maybe one of you know how to solve this...

Make frequent back ups of you region. That means going into the regions subfolder and copying the region over to a new location and saving it there frequently. That will help in case this ever happens again. Atleast you won't loose much. As for your current problem, I know of no way to fix the issue. The reason why it is doing that is because your laptop cut of in the middle of writing data for your save. The data was incomplete due to shutdown and that particular file is now currupted thus unuseable.

It's unlikely that you will be able to get that city back. But unlikely does not mean impossible: I have done it before. You need to check to see if your laptop has any kind of automatic data backup. For example, I have Windows 7 and it automatically backs up every file and folder every few days. All I have to do is right click on the folder (in this case, right click on the region's folder in C:\My Documents\SimCity 4\Regions\name) and select "Properties". Then there's a tab at the top called "Previous Versions". I can choose to restore the folder to a version from a few days ago.

Then you just have to choose the last backup before the city went missing. This is only if you have Windows 7; if you have a Mac or something there may or may not be a way but it would be different.

Sometimes that happens with me. The tile may be blank but the city is still there, it is caused when the region thumbnail does not update correctly. I forgot what key to hit while saving to make sure the region thumbnail updates properly though, so I just go back in and re-save. That way the city appears next time you load the region

This doesn't appear to be a case of lost thumbnail because it shows as a hole in the region. Interrupt during a save is usually fatal, especially if the system had a hiccup. W7's backup feature may be the saving grace here.

My system (Linux) does an automatic backup every Thursday morning. Runs in the background.

Well, the fily maybe interupted during saving time. Were you doing something while you were saving or you were waiting? Try doing what they were sayign about W7 backup, if you have Windows 7, and if it is on backup.

does any one know what key you press to force the thumbnail to update cause I seem to be having that problem at this moment in my region.
