Problems with naming custom content in-game...

Well, I've just downloaded about ten different subway stations, and have started building a subway network. Let's get straight to the point. I try to name my stations as if it were a real-life subway network, and here's where the problem comes in.

Say that I plop a station named "DefaultStationName" that I've downloaded. Now I want to rename it, so I change it to "Station A" by using the query tool and changing the name, as you do with everything else. Now let's say I want to use the same station model for a different station in my city, so I plop the same station from the same menu into a different suburb. It manages to carry the name "Station A" with it for each and every plop, and replaces the original name of "DefaultStationName". If I change my second station's name to "Station B", the first station's name will also change to "Station B". So there can only be one name for each particular station model I have across my city.

So I restart my game. And then the name of each station simply switches back to "DefaultStationName" again.

It's the same with my (custom) schools in the city too. Say I plop "Frosch Elementary" into my city, and change it to "Dulwich Primary School". All dandy until I restart the game, and then it switches back to "Frosch Elementary" again.

Has anyone else got this problem? Is there any way to fix it?

Thanks, I hope this made sense, I suck at explaining things.

The game will use the same name for all instances of a custom building in a city and it doesn't save those custom names.

It saves the custom names for built-in buildings in a certain subfile in the save file (The exact TGI I don't have on hand at the moment) and it doesn't do the same with custom lots for some reason.

It's not so much a bug as a limitation.

While I was fairly sure resetting custom building names was not normal, I could not remember clearly. After changing a custom building's name, resetting the computer (To flush anything that may reside in memory), reloading the game and checking the custom building, I can say that the game does indeed save custom names.

I'm not sure what would be the cause...

Built in lots retain their names across saves, but custom content does not. I don't recall any way to force this because I believe custom content uses a single instance of the model/descriptors and you are therefore stuck with the original name.

Possibly the built in lots have a list of instance names, and this feature is not carried forward to custom work.

Having once again checked the custom building whose name I had changed, I find that it remains what I changed it to.

Proceeding to do experiments, I plopped a few buildings, changed their names, and reloaded the city to see what happened. I have found that this name-changing behavior behavior is inconsistent, leading me to believe it's a bug. Download and plop and Milwaukee Book Club. Change their names. Exit and re-enter the city. The former reverts, the latter does not.

Some buildings, and it doesn't matter what type, exhibit the behavior. It seems arbitrary and random which lots have the bug and which do not. Roadtop Mass Transit lots do not seem affected by the bug, so Roardle might consider downloading it...

It may be possible, furthermore, for the bug to change its nature depending on the city itself. I plopped all of the above lots on a small, mostly empty tile.

Now this is starting to sound like some kind of list problem. Do you suppose the same person who caused the queue overflow bug that crashes the system coded the list for this?

Only when the name references an LTEXT is saved, it will depend on each designer.
