I could care less obviously, all I care about is weeks 1 - 17 and how well the Packers will do. I predict a 13-3 record.

Normally I root against the cowboys but this year my dad has Tony Romo on his fantasy team and I'd like to see him do well.

300 yards and 3 touch downs. worth 33 points in my league but hes on my bench since Brady is my starter.

A nice win for the cowboys, amazing how a supposedly substandard defensive line is not that bad when your corners can cover someone.

Damm cant win against the sad sea hawks.

Meg has to be happy with the redskins new QB. Griffon is going to be good for a long time.

Javier Colon gave a wonderful rendition of the national anthem on Sunday night football tonight.

Just his voice and an acoustic guitar.

Couple oddities emerging in the NFC. Saints are 0-3 and the Cardinals are 3-0.

The only team I make a particular point of rooting against is the Patriots (join the club, right?), but I have a couple of good friends who are Patriots fans so I am unfortunately not free to flap my lips about it (and none of my friends in question are from Massachusetts or typical Pats territory, even).

As a Giants fan I am supposed to hate the Eagles... but in practice, while I won't root for them, I won't root against them, either. So, meh.

Yes, he seems like the real deal. and he doesn't have an ego the size of Texas. It's actually nice to watch his interviews.

I thought it was terrible. The place isn't set up for an acoustic guitar.

Apparently he was warned about the central Maryland tradition of having the whole stadium yell "Oh" at the beginning of the line "Oh say does that star-spangled banner yet wave". I've seen that startle various visitors.

I can't believe Torrey Smith is playing. He looks like he is going to start crying any second. Apparently, he helped raise the little brother who was killed in a crash this morning. I guess he is doing what he has to do to get through the day. But still, no one would have blamed him if he took the day off.

He did go to Baylor University, which is semi private and run by the Baptist church. so maybe he learned something in school besides football.

That records been around for a long time.

you would have thought some one like Marino, Farve or Joe Montana would have broken it.

How many records are that old in the NFL?

Seems like most of them are set more recently then other sports.

Football didn't become a big thing until fairly late in the game. The NFL has been around for almost a century (1920), but the AFL didn't enter the game until over 40 years later and there was no Super Bowl prior to the 1966 season. That basically means that pro football is 63 years behind pro baseball in terms of history and development (first World Series was in 1903).

So yeah, records are newer because not as many of them have been set to a position that is practically unbreakable yet.

But When Unitas set that record the game was different. having a TD pass in every game was unheard of then. But he did set the trend

for the future of the passing game.

Real football started in the middle ages with a bunch of guys kicking an inflated pig bladder around in the square at the Cathedral in Florence (Firenze), Italy. This junior sport in America could easily degenerate into hooliganism in a few hundred years.

The Cowboys look worse this season than last. Sure, they can score when Romo isn't in INT-happy mode, but that alone doesn't win games with that sloppy defense. It's a small victory for the Cowboys when the other team is held to three points, but the other team gets to hold Dallas to three-and-out.

It got revised to 108, unfortunately. That ties the record, but doesn't break it. What did break, though, is the power infrastructure. In the third quarter, half of the stadium went into the dark, and the game went into a stopdown. About 35 minutes later, the power was restored, but the half-lit Superdome made for a surreal sight. I'm honestly surprised it doesn't happen more often. When you have that many lights and all the electronics and speakers going at once, it's no wonder if something breaks. It's all a part of a good party. For better or for worse, the Ravens won. Neither team in this Super Bowl was my preference, but I was sort of pulling for the Niners.

About that kickoff return for a touchdown . . .

'Crazy' day at store giving away furniture following kick return

Gardiners pledged no charges for this weekend's purchases if a kick was returned for score

By Jill Rosen, The Baltimore Sun

    7:08 p.m. EST, February 4, 2013

Gardiners Furniture might be eating its Super Bowl bet but couldn't be happier about it.

Gary Mullaney, co-owner of the Baltimore chain, said Monday that his phone has been ringing off the hook and reporters have been clamoring for interviews since an improbable offer came true. Gardiners told customers all furniture bought between Jan. 31 and 3 p.m. on the day of the game would be free if the Baltimore Ravens returned a kick for a touchdown during Sunday evening's Super Bowl.

And then Jacoby Jones returned a kickoff 108 yards for a touchdown to open the second half, forcing the store to give away $600,000 in furnishings.

"This morning has just been crazy," Mullaney says. "People are hearing about this all over the country."

Mullaney said he was watching the game at home with his family when Jones started his run toward the end zone. He was on his feet. He was jumping. He was screaming.

    "Just beyond belief," he says.

Good thing he'd taken out an insurance policy — just in case.

The policy cost Gardiners about $12,000, Mullaney says. Though that's a good bit of money, Mullaney is chalking it up as an advertising investment — and the amount of attention that's come Gardiners' way since the bet has been priceless.

This is the third year the store has run such a promotion. The intention is to get people thinking about furniture during a weekend when almost no one is.

"We're not a bar. We're not a restaurant. During the Super Bowl, no one says, 'Hey let's go to the furniture store,'" Mullaney explained. "It was just our small way of being able to participate in the hoopla."

Diana Do, a Baltimore mother of three and a physician at Johns Hopkins Hospital, was thrilled to find out that the $4,000 worth of children's bedroom furniture she bought Saturday night would be free. She'd bought the dressers, nightstands, mattresses and a bed for her three girls, who are all under the age of 2.

It was her first time shopping at Gardiners.

And until she got a call from the store on Monday, she'd forgotten all about the promotion in the excitement of the game and daily routine with the babies.

"It was just a complete surprise and a shock to us," Do said. "This is just icing on the cake, to win something for us and for the city of Baltimore to win the Super Bowl."

Gardiners was fielding calls Monday from people who wanted to claim their rebates — and a few from folks trying to finagle free furniture who didn't buy any over the weekend.

Store officials said they would give money back only to people with stamped receipts — and only once their insurance paperwork goes through.

I just saw the owner on tv. He is having a great time. It's $600,000 but his insurance is covering it.
