Sunken Highways, Diagonal Overpasses?

I have a tricky situation here... I've got the basics down on hole digging and sunken highway walls... I haven't attempted to put in overpasses yet, but I have yet to see a Diagonal sunken Highway overpass, which I will need if I put it in my city. Is this possible, and if so, can I get a link to a tutorial for it?

Also, I need the download link for the road, street, avenue overpasses for the sunken freeway.

Do you have the Network Addon Mod installed? This contains quite some overpasses ;)

Yes, of-course I do. :golly: I'll post some screen shots for you to get more of an idea of what I'm talking about.

My highways need to be sunken and diagonal, and I need to find a way to get on and off ramps, on a diagonal path, without making the land look odd. Is that possible? and is it possible to cross a diagonal highway over a diagonal sunken highway, without making it look like an earthquake occurred?

    Also... what's up with this?

I'm afraid this can't be done yet. The only method that comes close is using a combination of the DBE (Diagonal Bridge Enabler) and the regular overpass pieces), but this method is really hard (even for advanced players) and far from fail proof...

Firstly, we don't even have Diag Elevated AVE over Diag RHW-4 pieces, and secondly, you're not even using the correct pieces.

If you wish to make such a crossing, either elevate the RHW instead or use OWR instead of RHW.

Coincidentally, I'm playing a bit around with diagonal stuff at the moment which also includes some DBE tricks, like Mandelsoft mentioned above. He is also right about the fact that these setups are (unfortunately) not as easy to build as they might look. Maybe you can get some ideas from these pics. ;)

This is an older setup which features the DBE pieces as onslope ramps.

There is a small issure though: With the drawpaths cheat on, it can be seen that only the right lanes are going through while the left ones have one tile with a reversed path. I haven't tested if this is generally the case when using OW-DBEs, or if it's only in this specific setup.

And now the best part: With this method it's possible to directly link diagonal bridges with elevated networks. In the case of RHW (or EOWR) it looks like this:

    diag_diag_RHW_to_Bridge.jpg

Rail is a bit more limited as there aren't diag Rail over diag RHW pieces, so I had to rely on OWR for the overpass. But the elevated to bridge part works here as well:

Please note again that when playing with the DBE, there will be generally a lot of loading and reloading. The motto here is: Save early, save often. Build carefully; one accidentally misplaced puzzle piece might do quite a bit of unwanted auto-terraforming. This is especially annoying when you are in DBE-mode and normally can't just conveniently single-tile place some roads or rails to re-terraform back.

    Edit:

Some more (quick and dirty) diagonal overpasses:

    Diagonal Avenue:

And something that can't be interchanged, but elevated: OWR4.

(yes I know that the elevated part are two parallel OWR2, but meh :P )

Ok i see. I won't do further sunken highway construction attempts on my city then. :uhm: I really hope sim city 5 doesn't have these conflicts.

Don't hold your breath waiting for SimCity 5. The new EA edition probably won't be able to handle any of the stuff we like to do.
