need help

one of my cities on sc4 deluxe is being weird it looks like its all water and you the name is still there aswell as the mayors name but it will not let you log into that city and that is the only city that is doing that.

i've never had that problem and it's new to me. for city and mayor name you have 2 options :

1. use the mayor tool and destroy the city or

2. use cheats

hellomynameis: Change Mayor Name (add a space,then the name you wish to change it to)

whererufrom: Change City Name (add a space, then the name you wish to change it to)

is it a default city that came w/the game, a custom map that you made or a custom map you downloaded ?​

no it is one that i had made.

So, you can't load the city, and from the region view it appears to be all water?

If what I've described above is exactly what's happened, that happened to me once. The city file was corrupted and I never was able to fix it. I had to delete the city and import the unincorporated tile from a copy of the region I had to render.

i've done a little map making and i've never had that happen to me but then again i use extremely large base files. you could try SC4 Terraformer to open the map and fix it from there and then export the map and reload it. only thing i can think of off the top of my head.

You need to add quotation marks around names you type in with these cheats to get a space between two words.. Like so:

hellomynameis "mayor metalface"

If you don't add the marks in front and at the end, it will come up like this: mayormetalface

i was going to say this is a corrupted file, possibly form an interrupted save process

Well, all that stuff about quoted arguments is irrelevant because there is no doubt that the tile is corrupted and will have to be replaced by whatever means you choose.

An argument is like a single word and if it contains delimiter characters (e.g. space) is must be quoted. An argument like

Mayor Idunno will be accepted as 'Mayor'. The scan cuts off at the space.

If anyone is really interested in the way the syntax scanner works, I will be happy to discuss it in a PM.
