I know, out of 500,000 members, that I can't be the ONLY person who likes to keep in shape. So, let's have at it! Who all here likes to work out? Do you have some sort of specialty? Maybe it's running (like me), or MMA, or core training? Let's have it, ladies and gents! :D

As for me? I'm a runner. I used to run cross country in high school, but after joining the army, I kind of lost my runner's mentality. I'm getting back into it.

Here was today's route for me. A slightly longer-than-average run (for me). I slacked the past two days and haven't done anything, so I decided to go an extra 1.5 miles.

I'd remove that image if I were you. Sharing where exactly your house is publicly on the internet is not a good idea.

Anyways, I am not at all the type to work out. Haven't used a gym or anything like that since high school, and even then I only did so because I was being graded on it (fortunately they graded on effort rather than performance or I'd have failed miserably).

Today this puts me in an odd position. I'm not trying to keep in shape, but living in the city I do walk around a lot as part of normal activity. This means my legs are in good shape but my upper body, not so much.

i don't go to the gym, but i try to keep in shape at home, just some weight lifting, and running on the running carpet, push ups and such sometimes.

I actually have had two sets of fitness work in my life, both cardiopulmonary recovery programs. The first one probably prevented a heart attack and the second one was after my triple bypass surgery.

After the first one, I was in fairly good shape and my sailboat that I single-handed mostly helped to keep me there.

The second one occurred just after I retired having flown a desk for about 40 years. That was 12 years ago, and I can't really claim to be in any shape other than round now. My arthritis and a spinal problem limit the exercise I can do.

My dad is a personal trainer at LA Fitness. I work out with him all the time. I love the elliptical and walking along the waterfront!

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

I sometimes do a pub crawl, does that count?

Okay, I'll keep it serious. During holidays I go hiking in the mountains of wherever I am, or walk through rivers and gorges.

It keeps me fit for the year, but more importantly, there's great scenery.

The rest of the year I don't do much, except for the usual walking and biking around town, I don't have a car.

I'd better not do too much though, or I'll get underweight again...

While your sentiment is noted, I'm not too terribly concerned. If anyone wanted to know where I lived, a simple IP lookup or even a phone book would tell you. Plus, I live in a house full of rednecks. Armed rednecks. We're pretty self sufficient haha.

It's good to see other people going out there. Wiecher, I'm jealous of your scenery. North Texas doesn't have much for that.
