Just as a heads up: The United States Coast Guard is no longer officially part of the military. It reports to the Department of Defense during wartime, but it is officially part of the Department of Homeland Security.

Suck's to be the coast guard then.

for a dept that's only 10 years old DHS is one of the biggest bureaucracy's in the government. amazing how big it got in that little bit of time.

Well, you never said which branch you were being inducted into but congratulations and thank you for serving. You may or may not know but in basic training there will most likely be times when you will wonder how you got here(there) and wonder if you will live to see better days. You will. In hindsight (future) it will be one of the best things you ever did. Best to you!

@hym. Thanks. You can't tell the players without a program. Attaching USCG to Homeland Security is one of the things that makes sense in all that panicked mess. I believe that the U.S. has planted a mushroom farm in creating that agency. Great for creating many new government jobs where they don't look out the window in the mornings.
