I Started a city in a region ive been working on, and I have mass abandonment.

The two areas of the city (residential and industrial) are seperated by a river and connected by ferry.

I am trying to build a region without bridges, none whatsoever, it worked before but is not working now, any suggestions?

It's obvious that the frerry is just not enough in the way of transit capacity for the sims to go to work, sim city works the same way as a real city would; if people cant get to work then they'll vote with their feet and leave. In order to get commuters to work you need transport links:road, rail, and the infrastructure to carry them namely bridges, you could put more frerrys in but siteing them on the coastline is a pain and may not work more than once.

The games run by an AI and as i've found out while experimenting; it can quickly get wise to you, see that things arn't going as it thinks it should and then have an attack of sheey bloody mindesness and then refuse to let the game carry on without certian items being used.

I'm all for experimenting but creating a bottleneck for your workers to use will only make things worse, good try though!

Go on: give 'em a bridge and see if it does any good, it will help

Does ferry transportation transits can be really hard to place on the terrain. Use the hotkey Ctrl + Alt + Shift, and then click on the God Mode button. That will enable the use of terrain tools so that you can adjust the terrain for the ferry stations. Just a tip.

Build the monorail station and connect the mono-railways to the industries, it is the fastest transportation system in the game but it cost much to make use of it.

You don't need god mode terraforming to remodel a shore line. Simply use the mayor engineering tools, especially the levelling tool. You can both create and carve away land, level it at the correct height and install your ferry stations (up to 16 total) to supply the transit need.

The mayor mode tools cost money, so you may need to boost your funding with the moolah command. Put it in pause while you are doing the engineering, and save before you start.
