City Loading Screen Freezes

I have a feeling this has been posted about a million times, but I don't want to go rummaging through dead threads.

Anyhow, I just got the SC4 game as well as Rush Hour, and the game starts up perfectly. I'm on a MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 (Snow Leapord) with enough power to fulfill any specs the game requires. However, when i go to select a tutorial or even make a new city, it begins to load the area but then freezes.

I have waited ample amounts of time to see if it will work then, but in the end I always have to force shutdown my computer to get anything to work again.

Can anyone help?

Cheers,

skymonkier

Have you installed Rosetta to your Mac OSX? Rosetta is needed to run it properly because Simcity 4 is designed for PowerPC, I assume you have an Intel based Macbook.

Unsure. I do have an Intel-based MacBook. How do I check/install Rosetta?

My Macbook Pro was preinstalled by the apple store, I updated to Lion which didn't have Rosetta anymore, so I installed Snow Leopard again on a second partition, Rosetta wasn't checked on so you might be out of luck. Maybe you could insert your snow leopard disc and see if you could install separate programs. If the problems still exists there is another solution, Aspyr released a update a while ago which allows your mac to run Simcity 4 without Rosetta, I would try that before reinstalling OSX all over again (if you even thought of doing that :P ).

    Update:

I've searched a bit, this might be the download you need, I haven't tried it yet so copying your current version might be helpful before installing this. ;)

I think I got Aspyr's update, but just in case I didn't, how do I?

And no, if it required me to reinstall my Mac OSX, I'd just give up on it, hahaha.

First update in my previous comment, if that doesn't help, the link in this site might help.
