    Hello All,

First post! I'm like the guy a few threads down who just came back to SimCity after 5 years. I forgot how awesome this game is. I have a bunch of questions while I play, but can only think of a couple now.

    1. Do I have to connect water to industrial/commercial zones (I have been)?

    2. Am I supposed to keep water pumps/plants away from industry?

    3. Is there an easy way to see the things I've built like fire police stations? I always forget if I have them in some cities.

    4. Do I have to build entrance/exit ramps on highways for them to work right? I have a highway connected to a city that doesn't have ramps, but cars are driving on them. Also, why can't I build entrance/exit ramps on elevated highways? The system did it automatically once, but the grid gets red when I try to do it myself.

    Thanks for the help!

    1. Yes

    2. Yes

    3. Data View panel

    4. Yes. Sims can only get on and off the highway at ramps, just as in real life.

    3. And fire hazard view, police view, education view, health view. Look around. There are a lot of views and graphs.

The NAM is pretty good, but I don't remember how it works to add on-ramps and off-ramps onto highways in the stock game. So I'll try my best.

I would just build the highway, plowing its shiny grey posterior through my neighbourhoods and commerce, and add the ramps later. Now, whatever road will intersect below (because it's an elevated highway), start it a fair distance (4-7 squares away) perpendicular to the highway. Then drag it through. Instead of a red plop colour, it should turn blue, indicating an optional add-on. A dialog will appear if you've done it right and ask if you want to build ramps.

I hope this is right in case you don't have the NAM. It's a great modification, however. You can manually place preset interchanges, for example, of hundreds of other features.

Also, just in case, check out what other options are available to use in the highways menu of your transportation tools, there could be an automatic wizard for analyzing what ramps could fit on a chosen location. (Again, this may be false for your circumstance, and just be in another mod)

And yes, you need ramps for the sims to use it. The automata is more of a gimmick alongside UDI mode, so I find it a bit deceitful.
