Help uninstalling a plugin download?

I haven't been able to find anything to help me, but hopefully someone here knows what's up. I'm not that computer-savvy, and I've only just started playing Sim City 4 again, and the first time I've downloaded mods.

Anyway, I downloaded "PEG NO MORE BROWN BOXES 1" link here and I went off for the afternoon. Now I've just returned and every time I open any city with a brown box (just the one, which is the blackhole garbage mod, which works but looks like a box) - the game shuts down.

I've opened various other cities, and they all work fine, and I've then experimented and placed the blackhole garbage mod down - which then closed my game, so it's definitely this mod's fault.

So, this mod was a download/application, not a .dat. But I cannot appear to find the actual file on my PC, so I'm worried I'll not be able to play on this city again because it's my best. Once I get rid of it, it should be fine.

Can anyone help?

Edit. After investigating further, it appears to have messed up my other mods, such as the commercial landmark, mcdonalds, Madison Square and more.

Edit2. Started a new city and the problems still remain.

Sounds like a model file got misplaced. If the lot is working and you find it useful, it would be easier to re-install the lot rather than uninstall it. The creator made three waste to energy lots under the Black Hole name, so you'll have to check your Plugins folder to see which one of these it is:

on a 2x2 lot

on a 3x4 lot

on a 1x1 lot

When you find the one that's causing you trouble, just re-download it and unzip the files into the same folder under Plugins where you found the original. This should correct the problem.

I'm not sure if my first edit makes any difference? Everything worked fine until I download this PEG NO MORE BROWN BOXES mod. My landmarks and landmark commercial ones worked fine, now they just shut down the game. I mean, it's got to be this mod, it's the only explanation.

It's one of these .exe files, and I cannot locate where the actual download went. I just need to delete that and then it should be fine. It's just where?

If you ran the installer, it should have put the mod file in a folder named PEGPROD in the My Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins folder. If there's nothing else in that folder, you can simply remove the entire folder.

Odd that this is happening. I have used the OOPS mod for years and haven't seen this issue. When you mentioned...

The name of the file is PEG_OPPS-Mod_205.dat

You can run a search for it, remove it, and run the game again to see if everything returns to normal. I use it too, and have never had problems with it. If you thought the point of the mod is to cure the brown box plague by providing all necessary dependencies, I only wish that were the case! It simply replaces the brown box with a multi-colored flag so you can query the lot with the missing model and find out what it is so you can track down the dependencies.

Apologies for spamming this thread, but I've figured it out. Thanks for helping me, but it was definitely because of this mod.

I found the file - which was hidden deep within my docs (who knows how?!) and deleted, now the game runs smoothly.

Can anyone help me with another mod, it's the "ROAD TOP MASS TRANSIT", I've done everything in the readme, but when in the menu, all the buses/subway stops appear to be unlocked. ??

Well, whenever I clicked them in the menu, the game would shut off. Fortunately, I've sorted it now and they all work again. Crazy stuff. Still got the ugly boxes, but as long as it means I can play then I'm happy

Which RTMT set are you trying? Also, not sure what you mean by "unlocked". Do you mean there're not able to be selected? You may have included the MML file in the download. If so, there is an item in the menu that, when plopped, the rest of the set will become available. Or if you look in the RTMT folder in your Plugins, you should find a file with MML as part of it's name. If you remove it, the menu items will likewise become available.

Just a note: Still not sure why the No Brown Box mod doesn't work for you. I tried all the Black Hole items with the OPPs mod in place, and all seemed to work well. Curious...

Just need to find ways of getting traffic down, got a city of 150,000 and commercial demand is still really low and apparently this is the reason. All the mods I get to help either don't work or are parcels haha.

Also, sorry about the late reply. This website hardly works for me, I'm not sure if anyone else gets this problem on Chrome. It just keeps saying "

If congestion is your issue, have you tried subways?

Yeah, I have tons of subways, I actually spent all last night re-'designing' them, and putting them on at least every block, with bus stops.

If you mean the brown boxes, then you've probably missed a dependency somewhere. Using the manual version (the one I linked to above) does require careful reading of the instructions. If that's the one you used. you might consider trying the installer version (). It sets up the basics and doesn't require dependencies unless you use the Prop Family option. Again, read through the instructions carefully, and feel free to post any questions.

I've installed that, with the help of the readmes and no dice. It's not such a big deal, I've probably missed something but I lack the attention-span to go looking for it haha.

Not a big problem, it's more my fault for not working out the transport before I built the city. It's odd though, I have now 150k people, loads of residential sky scrapers and tons of landmarks/health/education/money. All residential demands are at a sky-high, yet, the commercial side is really low - despite having over 100k jobs available.
