Hi,

I play a normal SC4 rushour version. I can't think of any important mods I've installed besides the latest version of the NAM and only have around 60 plugins or so. Nevertheles I decided to install NWM. Instalation went without problems. I do install everything in the plugin folder un programs-->plugins while my pc automatically always want to make a new map under my username where the game is not installed. I don't know if that has anthing to see with it it. I also am trying the re-install NAM version 30 now. i had installed it few months ago but SC4 says it's still NAM controller r 27 when it open while I'm sure I deleted my previous versions of the NAM mod.

I do have some bugs in my NAM also. For instance whe I use elevated road puzzle pieces, the game tends to shut down itself a lot or simple crashes. Then I have to shut down the game through an alternative way wich can't be good. I've had this problem for years now but since I don't use elevated road puzzle pieces it didn't botter me.

The when using single padded raps for maxis highway it ofthen creates a giant hole in the ground wich I have to fill up every time. I learned when I first drag a one way road and place it that it happens less ofthen butt it's still damn annoying.

The I also have issues with city folders. The game everytime creates city folders on two differend places. I want the cities to be in de program folder like the rest of the game. But when I do this the game autmatically makes a whole new SC4 folder under my name including a cities folder, a bug report folder (where the actual bug reports do come to sit in) , HHTP cache folder (wich is always empty), plugins folder (also empty because my plugins are under the programs folder) and a SC4.cfg file. The cities I placed in the region folder under programs are not to be found anywhere when playing the game. Instead the game just thinks it's funny to automatically make the standard maxis regions again in a new folder in my username I just deleted and then I only can play those regions...

Thanks for the answer I'll get in advance :)

Josh

You should never add plugins to the Program Files ... Plugins folder. The game residency is the base of the game and should be kept that way.

If, for some silly reason, you created a second account on your machine for, say, a friend to play the game, he would be stuck with your plugins. Not very nice.

All plugins except the default sky textures belong in Documents ... Plugins for this reason. Multiple players on the same system can have their own plugins suite as well as all the other user area files.

Another example would be if the Program Files folder were on a network. You would mess up all other players by sticking stuff in there.

...I can't think of any important mods I've installed besides the latest version of the NAM and only have around 60 plugins or so.

As Nonny Moose mentioned, plugins should go in the user's My Documents/SimCity 4 folder. Installers that come with downloads such as NAM and NWM will automatically place the necessary files there. Moving things around and installing later versions could create problems with having multiple versions installed. Would recommend removing all installations of NAM and reinstalling, letting it place the files in the correct folder.

I do have some bugs in my NAM also. For instance when I use elevated road puzzle pieces, the game tends to shut down itself a lot or simple crashes. Then I have to shut down the game through an alternative way wich can't be good. I've had this problem for years now but since I don't use elevated road puzzle pieces it didn't botter me.

This is a game issue with some NAM pieces. If the piece has been selected and then touches a transit-enabled lot, crashes will result. Care needs to be used when placing such pieces.

This is normal. If you delete these folders from My Documents/SimCity 4, the game will create new ones because that is the location that it looks for the content. As mentioned, the folders in My Documents should be allowed to remain in place.

The cities I placed in the region folder under programs are not to be found anywhere when playing the game. Instead the game just thinks it's funny to automatically make the standard maxis regions again in a new folder in my username I just deleted and then I only can play those regions...

Again, this is normal. If no regions are found in the My Documents/SimCity 4/Regions folder. the game will copy the existing default regions from the folder in the Program Files location. Playable regions need to stay in the My Documents location.
