Helicopter bugs

I have noticed that usually the AI police helicopters will scan the map, or just get stuck in a certain pattern. It will go and fly above a high crime area, then not stop and slowly fly across the map and keep going, even out of the square map area. Or they will Gain altitude and keep doing so.

I also noticed that when you save the game, all other sounds will go off except the Helicopter sound.

Has anyone ever seen or heard this?

I never paid much attention to the pattern of the helicopters, but I definitely noticed the annoying rotor sound. You're right, it's especially prominent while saving the game and sometimes when zooming in on an area where a helicopter is flying. It aggravated me so much I made a mod to mute the sound of the helicopter, but I never released it on the STEX. Peace and quiet, at last! If you want the mod, let me know. I can't help with the erratic roving automata, though.

The only way to keep the helicopter down to the helipad is by eliminating crime. Use the to prevent crime for appearing and the helicopter will never take off.

If you find the helicopter hovering over a corner of an airport, drop in a police kiosk and dispatch a couple of police cars. This usually abates this nuisance.
