    City of Dakke

    Population: 9,766

    Location: Badlands of Okota

    Economy: Oil and Agriculture

    mzBnR.jpg

Dakke has been known for its small town feel in the Badlands of Okota. Originally, the city of Dakke was built on agriculture since the late 1800s. The great Badlands drought hit in the early 1900s and never left the area and the city of Dakke has seen a declining population since then. Once thrived nearly 15,500 people, it dropped to 8,322 one year ago today.

The discovery of oil by Steve Glenida in the Badlands was big news to the Dakke area in the 1930s and Steve predicted billions of oil could be extracted but the technology wasn’t there.

Technology has advanced in the past year and has allowed the ability to drill horizontally to access unrecoverable oil. Since the discovery of this new technology, the population of Dakke has risen to 9,766 and two new oil rigs have opened this year and experts predict hundreds if not thousands to be built in the Dakke area in the next 5 years.

Experts predict Dakke’s sinking population to soon explode to nearly 75,000-100,000 in the next 5-10 years.

    Stay tuned for more updates.

Aerial view of the downtown district with multiple spaces opens for business. City planners are gearing up for a busy year of oil companies fighting for office space in the downtown area.

Planners are working on master plans for new residential developments and a new outdoor shopping center. Retailers are drooling over the opportunity to open business in Dakke.

People across the country are flocking to Dakke and its causing major traffic headaches for small town residents.

Keep up the great work and good luck!

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

    Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

    Update 1: Housing Boom

The master plans for housing development were submitted last month and contracters wasted no time getting started with the high housing demand.

Street construction has already started on the south side of downtown.

Road construction taking shape on the eastern outskirts of Dakke. Most lots have already been sold before homes are even built.

With the high demand happening in Dakke, the city needed a newer power source to handle to explosive growth to take shape.

Stay tuned for the new 6 story hospital that will be built on the south side of downtown!

    Dakke Replies

    • OcramSeattle - Thank you. I am a loyal fan to Sim City, but I have been playing CitiesXL on the side because I like some the features it offers. I am hoping SimCity takes the ideas from CitiesXL and implements them into the new game.
