    Hej!

Guys, can someone explain me how do you construct buildings and draw maps for SC 4? I have a license Sim City 4 Rush Hour, what software do I need to create all this stuff for the game?

    Thanks.

You either use gMax/3dsmax with BAT for modeling buildings and SC4TF/ConvertIsocline to draw maps.

There are tutorials out there on SC4Devotion(different LEX/forum users) and STOmnibus, on BAT. For more advanced techniques(boolean, sweep, loft, bevel, etc) you can search youtube for tutorials as gmax and 3dsmax are used for other stuff as well.(gmax is used for Trainz and Quake3, 3dsmax is used by professional modeling and animation firms as well as amateur modelers).

For creating maps, there isn't really much need to make new ones(mappers release tons of maps) as there are enough out there, and most of them use advanced tools such as DEM so nearly all of them are real locations. Even if its fictional it might have used a DEM map as a base then edited on SC4TF. If you want a truly fictional you could draw contour lines(with Paint), process them in ConvertIsoclines, export the result to Landscape Designer for fine tuning and finally exported to SC4TF. Landscape Designer can also be used to generate random maps aswell, if you want to know.

I suggest you need to walk before you can run. What is the version of your game? Find it by locating the executable SimCity 4.exe and hovering your mouse over it. To construct new items with the Building Architect Tools and test them your game has to be at build level 1,1,640 or greater.
