Hello all.

I was finished with a lot of improvements on one of my cities, so I thought it was time to take some city journal pictures. Now this city has had some crashing issues before, but not like this. I don't know why, but just as I zoom out, the game crashes every time (THREE separate times, THREE separate days, the SAME TRIGGER!!!).

I am fed up with this. The latest exception report:

Yikers thats long. I once devoted a lot of RAM to MineCraft (MinerSim) And it kept crashing, have you allocated memory to SC4 latley?

A billion times/day? wow, your game must load in a milli-fraction of a second.......... I can understand the frustration. What have you downloaded lately or did you alter a gamefile? Usually crashes are caused by downloading something that doesn't match or co-operate with other files. Maybe taking these files out and testing the game will solve the problem. Try this first and come back to us, there are other solutions if this doesn't work.

Yep, certainly a faulty mod. (I know I have a lot of crashes when using trams (the NAM way?), both when I am plopping and when I am zooming over tracks, perhaps it's what is going wrong.)

OK, from your dump you are missing the nightlights patch to take you to version 640. You can acquire that from SC4Deviotion's EA Support section (Bottom left of the home page).

When posting a dump, we only need the header. The rest is garbage since we don't have the necessary documentation to decode all that crap. The first 20 lines is enough.

I see your game is a valid one running from disks on Windows 7. However, I don't get enough information from this to continue analysis, and I refuse to guess. You seem to have 2GB of RAM, which is rather small for machines running Windows 7. Please tell us what your system configuration is.

Also, what is in the command line (short cut) that starts your game? To find this, right click on the shortcut, and open it for editing. Then copy and paste the target line into your next post.

Well, we still need your system configuration.

It doesn't matter how big your plugins folder is, but if you have overflowed the table space and have started paging, all bets are off. This game isn't made for virtual memory, but the O/S can page it anyway.

You can get rid of all the startup nonsense by using the option -intro:off

If your disk is getting full it is more than past time to run the disk utility programs. Right click on your drive in My Computer and run:

1. Disk Cleanup. (This will take a long time, maybe overnight).
   
2. Disk Defragmenter ( ditto if you've never run it before)
   

This should get you back some wasted space on your disk.

One of the easiest ways to get your configuration data is to run dxdiag, the directx diagnostic. Take a screen shot of the first page of this, and post it here.

Your system looks fine. However, because of the dual core system, I suggest you change your target line in the shortcut so that it looks like this:

"C:\Program Files\ ... \SimCity 4.exe" -intro:off -CPUCount:1

This forced you onto one core and gets rid of the startup movie. If you have an oddball monitor, you might want to add the custom resolution options as well.

To edit the target line, right click on the shortcut and choose properties.
