Data Maps or Data Views are of course a vital part of the Simcity series and most likely always will be. In the next couple weeks we will be hearing more about the data maps in Simcity 2013.

What would everyone like to see changed about data maps in the game, if anything? I can't think of anything off of the top of my head, I think the data views in SC4 were great.

From the sounds of past dev interviews the datamaps are going to vanish as everything simulated will be represented visually. Overall I think this is a good thing.

However there is room for some data views. An example will be a response time overlay for emergency services over roads based on current traffic averages.

I think they said there are still overlays, like when you're placing a power plant you see the electricity usage of every building, and the electricity pulsing through the wires.

They seemed to say that these will replace all the information graphs and maps of previous Simcities, but I really hope they keep some graphs. Data overlays are cool, but graphs are the only way to see how certain things in your city are changing over a longer time span...

From the last interview it sounded almost like you'd always see the data even without having it turned on, but I doubt they'd do something that silly.
