Power to a different city

Hello everyone! I've owned Simcity 4 for quite sometime, and have never tried splitting up residential, industrial, and commercial. Yesterday I had a chance just to get the basis started. Three different cities each with its individual zone type. I'm curious, is it possible to get power from my industrial city along with trash pick up to my commercial city, when they are not next to each other (residential is in the middle)?

Any and all help is appreciated thanks!

You just have to make all of the intermediate deals, assuming that a deal can only be made if there is an excess of power in each city except the last.

Well, maybe I'm not doing something quite right. Built three power plants in my industrial zone and still have yet to be successful in getting power to my commercial zones. Have direct power lines through my residential zone. I have sped up time and given it about a year or so game time, and still no luck, maybe I need to give it more time?

    I'll answer you.

    1. To make electricity deals, you need a city with power plants and good exceeded amount of electricity to seel and a power line connecting to the city you want to offer electricity. That's all.

A personal statement: meanwhile splitting industrial from the others may be a good thing, commercial and residential have to stay together, as commercial grows up better if there's more traffic.

I have found it is always easier to make power deals when you start up a receiving city. With a little planning, you can set this up quite easily, and be careful not to overlay the connections. Once a city is rolling, it is hard to make power deals for some reason, probably a bug in the game.

With care and proper power plants, it is limited only to your patience and the region. Cascading the deals means a lot of switching between cities to keep it going since each deal between two cities is essentially separate. If anything happens down the chain, you could find yourself with several powerless cities all at once.

As power consumption increases in a distant city, all the deals have to be updated back to the power sources. I try to keep such things as close as reasonable.
