Playing SC4 in widescreen resolutions through EA's Origin

Hey all, have a question that maybe someone has an answer to. I'm playing SimCity 4 with EA's Origin service, and would love to play it in widescreen. I know the original SC4 has a workaround with the extension, but with Origin the files seem locked-up or non-existent. Does anyone have a solution? Is it possible to play SC4 through Origin with widescreen resolutions? Thanks in advance...

If you can make a shortcut to the .exe file then you'll be able to run the 'extensions' like the rest of us do.

I don't know this from experience, but doesn't the Origin platform give you a place to put command line arguments? I read somewhere that the Steam version does. Both of these snoopware outfits have too much control to suit me.

Simple answer is not to use Origin to start the game. Look on your c:/ drive for "origin games" (I think it's in the program x86 file, I don't use the standard install location). Open SimCity 4 file, open Apps file, you'll see the sc4.exe file. Shortcut it to the desktop. Right click, properties, and it'll show you the command string. Add the start-up mods that you want the program to use after the ".

I am glad ii is that easy to bypass the Origin snoopware. How about Steam? Anyone tried this end run?
