Your hardware is overkill for a little old Windows 98 program With all those CPUs, you are probably time slicing so fast that you can't get a steady frame rate. Here are some things to try.

  1. Make sure that all the 3D features of your graphics card are set to "program selected" or words to that effect.
  2. Restrict the number of processors that can run this single threaded game. On the target line in your game shortcut add one space after the final quote and -CPUCount:1
  3. If neither of these solves your issue, please post again.

I've encountered this when i go to the very edge of the map, But i'd suggest Following A Nonny Moose's instructions, and if that doesn't help, post an Error Log.

Right click on your Desktop Icon, Then click "Properties"

Then there should be a Target area (View Attachment if unsure), at the end of the target, add -CPUCount:1 after the quotation marks ("")

Too complicated and you have to do it each time.

In your shortcut for the game (unless it is from Origin or Steam about which I know nothing), right click and open the properties. On the target line after the last quotation mark enter one space then -CPUCount:1. Close the shortcut.

    That should do it.

Well I did as suggested and still same issue. What I don't understand is that I played this same game using duo's and didn't have this same issue. Now do to the fact that I have my game stored and ran rom a different drive have anything to do with it. As I said b4, I give my game it's own drive to work from.

Should not make any difference if you put it there when you ran the install (changed the destination directory), but if you moved it afterwards you have to fix up the registry as well.

If you have all that CPU power, I'll assume you are pretty good with things like scripts. Instead of using the shortcut, try running from a script using the game's absolute pathname followed by the options. The syntax is:

    "<pathname>"[ -<option>[:<value>]]*

If you just bought a new machine with all that whack without a grand purpose, then you have more money than I.

Just as a clarification here is my Linux script that runs this game.

    #!/bin/bash

    date

    env WINEPREFIX="/home/john/.wine" \

    wine "C:/Program Files/Maxis/SimCity 4 Deluxe/Apps/SimCity 4.exe" \

    -intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32 -d:software \

    -CPUcount:1 &>~/sc4.log

    date

I hope you won't need anything as elaborate as this, but I need to run in the windows intercept module.

Force Crossfire off. That's most likely what's causing the issues you're having. SC4 has zero support for Crossfire and Crossfire has zero support for SC4.
