Why do my pictures look vertically stretched?

When I take pics they look different than my game because they are slightly stretched vertically. Is there a way to take pics without this happening? I like the way it looks in game compared to the stretched pics.

I have the same. In reality though my monitor displays the game a bit vertically compressed and then when taking a Prnt Scrn it automatically stretched the pic a bit untill it has a normal display.

Are you playing with a custom resolution? If so, you can convert your screen-shots to the same resolution using either Photoshop or the GIMP.

Perhaps you're playing with a custom resolution and the in-game pictures aren't able to detect that, just a thought. If you show us a picture we might be able to help you better.

So compared to when I'm playing the game, the buildings in this picture look a little taller and skinnier

My screen is widescreen. Could that have anything to do with it?

Honestly I'm not even sure. How would I check if its custom resolution? Is photoshop or gimp free? I don't think I have either...

If it is a custom resolution you have it called out on your command line. If you don't have any options on your command line you are using whatever the game is set to, except that if you run full screen with a 16:9 monitor the monitor could be playing tricks on you. Mine is capable of doing that by emulating 4 x 3 at full screen resolution, but I don't let it.

www.gimp.org and it is free. You will want the main download, the help files, the GAP (gimp animation package) and the tutorial called Grokking the GIMP. If you don't grok grok, you are showing your youth.
